I drive through there a lot on my NON-ATLANTA route to Auburn from Knox area to Ck on the grandkids. Been pretty lucky with traffic patterns through there. US27 is the most under utilized 4 lane I have ever encountered. Lots of trips and have seen less than a dozen big trucks from Rome to LaGrange all time except right in Carrollton off I20.I've got family in Carrollton so I try to keep up with them, so looking forwared to that one. The championship game for 6A is Tuesday, Dec. 16th, though.
Since Tim Banks has been in Knoxville, Tennessee is one of the worst scoring defenses against ranked teams as well as 9th/16 in total scoring defense during his 64 games as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator. If that doesn’t scream mediocre I have no clue what willException?
2024 - #3 scoring defense in the SEC
2023 - #3 scoring defense in the SEC
2022 - #6 scoring defense in the SEC
No it's not. We were 64th in the country in scoring defense for conference games in 2022, 74th in 2023, 17th in 2024, 115th in 2025. That's a much better stat for evaluating how good a defense is instead of including the Kent State and New Mexico State type games.that's the only stat that matters

It can be only conference games but it needs to rank only SEC teams bc those are similar schedules even though we are 1 of two teams that play both Georgia and Bama. If you look at points allowed per game it is loaded with Big Ten teams, Thats not bc they play better defense but bc very few teams in their conference can score. No it's not. We were 69th in the country in yards per play against conference opponents in 2022, 76th in 2023, 13th in 2024, 107th in 2025. Again, a much better metric than every game scoring defense rank and only ranking in the SEC.
We have a coordinator who makes more than just about every DC in the country, and he hasn't put up better results than almost every DC in the country.
Yea, I read these back and forths on Banks and know it’s always something in the middle. People have made up their minds and don’t care about facts and some are stretching facts. He has been an above average coordinator until this year. I don’t care how you want to spin it, but the defense absolutely took us to the playoffs last year. However, this year was bad, and I do think new ideas are needed. I’m all for change, but we can still acknowledge he’s had a couple of good years. Nothing wrong with that, and it’s the truth.Just a comparison…. Fans would give up their left nut to get DJ Durkin as DC. From 2022-2025, DJ Durkins defense has allowed more points per game every single season except 2025. It can be argued that he had more talent to work with as well.
Wasn’t the ref that called it a TD the one who threw his hat that the WR went out of bounds? From what I could tell, the WR ran out on his own…wasn’t forced. They didn’t even address why he threw his hat and the announcers didn’t mention it either, yet that was first thing I noticed when the guy caught the ball was the ref didn’t have his hat on. My first thought was this wont stand.Tech WR ran out of bounds and was first to touch it. And OPI
Heupel will convince himself that this year's dramatic drop off was due to injuries and youth. He'll look at last year and see something that isn't there....solid coaching. Won't be the least bit surprised if he keeps Banks. Actually, I expect him to do just that. Unless Banks gets another job, he'll be on the staff next year. Honestly, I expect the entire lot of the defensive coaches to be here next year.Keeping Tim Banks will be the nail in the coffin for Big Heup, would hate to see it but it is what it is. Would be a brain dead decision
I don't know which way that I lean. I just prefer to think about it logically instead of emotionally, During the Vandy game, I fired every coach on staff.Yea, I read these back and forths on Banks and know it’s always something in the middle.
