Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

A college defensive coordinator that can only be successful with “NFL Corners”.

That ^ is not something anyone should “hope” to have here.
Surely we should be hoping to develop NFL type corners.

Didn't say that they were necessary. He didn't have it the year before that.

But when you're missing your 2 best DBs you expected to field, it changes the scheme and it softened our entire D up. Folks that know much more than anyone here said as much midseason about losing them and our inability to run what we wanted.

Sad, but it was a bit of a lost season. We were top 3 in the league in TOs and defensive scores, making us 10th out of 16 teams in overall scoring defenses. A bit below average, sure. Vs making the playoffs the year prior. How quickly folks forget.

It's like banks goes brain dead during live action. . . but there was a half of football when he coached from the sideline and we looked like a different defensive team.
Yet why didn’t he continue to coach from the sideline?? How can we see this as fans but they can’t see as coaches who get paid millions??!!

Bro Chas or Kaleb Webb were not seeing the field for this team. Schell was such a huge whiff I agree there
Really, because I remember games this year where we had 3-4 scholarship receivers available. If you read it again, I never said they would be starters. I said they would give significant minutes.

In my opinion, only Christian Charles and Jacobe Thomas would’ve started and it’s debatable of Charles would’ve.

He’s an average coordinator at best. Last year was an exception. That exception was nfl talent. He got demolished playing other teams that had talent like Georgia and Ohio state.
Exception?

2024 - #3 scoring defense in the SEC
2023 - #3 scoring defense in the SEC
2022 - #6 scoring defense in the SEC

I wonder though how this is viewed in recruiting for other prospects? Does Georgia suffer for it (all for it)? I don’t see TN ever doing this. Can you imagine to uproar the media would have made if we sued Nico?
Did Nico's contact have an early contact exit fee in it? If it did then, yes, I would anticipate going after it. If you think that would bring bad press then you don't put that in the contract. But putting it in the contract and then not enforcing it invalidates the authority of everything else in the contract.

Lol the ultimate cherry pick.

You're really going to say 2022 defense was good because you found one good stat out of a hundred bad ones?

22 and 36 in the nation in 23 and 22. Stop it.

Devos next move will be to be like "Average? #1 defense in the state of Tennessee is AVERAGE?"

Our Carrollton Trojans heading back to GHSA championship game.

#1 Carrollton in the nation against # 7 in the nation Buford. Will be 33, 3-5 * players in that game. Going to be a good one next Saturday.

I've got family in Carrollton so I try to keep up with them, so looking forwared to that one. The championship game for 6A is Tuesday, Dec. 16th, though.

I watched ETSU vs USA last night. ETSU doesnt run an offense, its pass around or dump down. However on defense they adjust, small micro adjustments, started trapping later in game. Which stopped USA's offense.

My point? In game adjustments. Not sure how easy or hard they are. I dont understand why we dont. Other teams do. And we never get to QB.
