Also, there are as many versions of the WIng-T as there are of "Spread". Are they running it out of the gun? Is it option based, power based, or traditional buck/trap/belly? In most cases the passing game is Play Action with a lot of out of the pocket movement. If he's running it out of the gun, he's probably running some RPOs. With all of that, his skill set is much more important than the system he is running.I know a bunch of HS kids can’t run anything comparable, just the wing-t is so different. Not saying that Jackson can’t do it, but it is drastically different.
From my amateur eyes, he’s got the arm and talent to be great. I just hope he can adjust to the quick decision making it takes in this offense. Of course, adaptation is always a question coming from HS to college.
Trust the Heup.
Thanks! Makes sense. Also, there are as many versions of the WIng-T as there are of "Spread". Are they running it out of the gun? Is it option based, power based, or traditional buck/trap/belly? I think "trust" is more about what the players are doing off the field. How can I trust you to give me 100% on the field or know the play if you're late to practice, missing team meetings, not going to class, or skipping rehab sessions. If I can't trust you to just be on time and attend the things you're required to, why would I trust you on the field?
Talent is great, but I'd rather a staff build a real culture by playing the kids that are doing all the things right off the field.
SIAP - we should have multiple draft picks this year.
I'm thinking Cade, Velus, possibly J. Peyton on O,
Butler, Taylor, possibly Theo. Maybe some wildcards who have good pro days and senior game practices.View attachment 410138
have you seen Tombstone? That was kinda one of the points of the movie. Earp was always well known for being calm, and collected. After the gunfight at OK Corral, Wyatt Earp moved to Los Angeles. There he was interviewed by a reporter and asked what is the key to winning a gunfight? Earp replied that you have to take your time but do it in a hurry.
On Saturday against the Wildcats, we won the fight by taking our time (13+ min) and obviously doing it in a hurry (45 points).
Conclusion: Josh Heupel is running the Wyatt Earp offense. jmo.
Absolutely everything on paper says we get beat this weekend, but for some reason, nothing more than a gut feeling, we squeak out a W.
