Would 6-6 be an improvement?

If I'm carrying water, you're starting fires.

"I don't believe he is."

You've already made up your mind about him and that's fine. I'll wait. I believe Danny White isn't Phil Fulmer and I believe admin will put an end to the revolving door even if Heupel isn't the second coming of General Neyland.

If we're going to go forward, we're going to need stability MORE than each and every "must win" fans ridiculously feel they "deserve."

I've made it clear that I think CJHs ceiling is 8-9 wins per year and he will get at least 5 years to get there. When he is ultimately fired the program will be mid pack SEC and primed for the right guy to come in and bring us back to top tier SEC play.

I agree. My bad for thinking you wanted more. I DO think he's an interim, though I'd love to be wrong.

Sorry for my tone there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were ugly in either direction. I have a love/hate opinion of Kiffin. I think his coaching is also Jeckyl/Hyde. Sometimes he looks brilliant... and sometimes he looks incompetent.
Kiffin has a full year on Heupel as far as going through an SEC schedule with an SEC roster but it is at least moderately encouraging that in 2 matchups Heupels CFU teams out scored Kiffins FAU teams 110-50.

My whole point in this was conveying what SHOULD happen this year not what I think will happen.

And yes, I'm hoping beyond hope I'm wrong as rain on a Sunday picnic about CJH.

I'm willing to give him 2 full years before I wish he were gone, unless he obviously is in way over his head.

I'll be happy to enjoy a TN game where I'm worried when I send a kid to get beer that they might miss a score rather than a fumble.

That was a joke because so many call him Gardener, Gardner, Garedidor, whatever. Kinda like when half the board thought Dick Cheney was our OC.

Yes, without a doubt. Especially considering how many players we lost to the portal, and how inept both our offense and defense was last year. Very few (outside of TN fans) expect us to win 6+ games.

Might offset some of the concerns about being outschemed.

PS- The transfer announced today should help CB depth.

IMHO, the video I watched from the Texas transfer is better than Henry T's play last year.

From a schematics standpoint relative to offensive play calling I think CJH can hold his own with the best of them...even Lane Kiffin. Its those pesky things like talent, depth ,size ,defensive efficiency & a CEO that knows how to get the roster and staff to produce positive results in the SEC that will be cause for concern.

I have more hope for him than that but if the next 3 years are 7-5, 7-5, then 9+... I'd be willing to see what a year 4 and 5 bring.

You seem unusually negative.

I don't make ironclad predictions for those very reasons. As we sit today, I think UT has a 6-8 win roster against this schedule. If the "big" OOC game were against an OU then I would not be as hopeful. I think those types of losses early on can compound themselves against a young team.

That said... having watched some games and researched them a little... Pitt definitely ain't OU. They are a middling at best ACC team. I think the style match up disfavors them strongly.... again as we sit here today. I think UT has multiple WR's who can run by their secondary.

I've really tuned them out the last year or so.. returned all my tickets to Tennessee for them to let someone else have. Just not much positive to look at when viewing the program. NCAA slap down is coming. Predictions that Plowman might not be able to hang on which means more changes at the top. Very unsettled.

I made a mistake with my initial post in this thread. Would have been best to just let it slide and say nothing..

I'm thinking he gets 5 as long as he stays at 6 wins or more after this season. Hell with our admin he might get 10 if he wins 7 every year.

No you aren't. Assuming the worst in every facet is not "being realistic".
I’m not assuming the worst. I’m pointing out facts. His teams got worse each year at UCF, and he’s a major question mark in recruiting and on the defensive side of the ball. I live in Orlando, I know UCF fans, I’ve been to games I’ve watched games and believe me his teams regressed each season after Frost left. It’s a FACT call it negative all you want I hope he ends up being the greatest coach ever I’ll eat a huge bowl of crow with a smile on my face but I’d be willing to bet he will be a flop.

Our once proud program is a dumpster fire now. The administration doesn’t give a damn as long as they’re selling tickets they couldn’t care less wether we win or not

No. You simply aren't. You may be vain enough to think of your opinions and interpretations of "facts" as facts but... they aren't. They are VERY clearly clouded by your bias.

His teams got worse each year at UCF,
His record got "worse". But you are trying to claim a huge drop off from a 12-1 season where competitive games and breaks went his way and a 10-3 season with a 4 point loss and two 1 point losses. That's not a competitive drop off no matter how much your narrative needs it to be.

Having read A LOT of your posts prior to responding to you... I trust neither your honesty with the facts nor your "expertise" to evaluate "regression"... And I make NO claim as to knowing whether Heupel with succeed or fail at UT.

You really don't understand the difference between your negatively biased opinions and "facts", do you?

His record getting worse each year at UCF is a FACT it doesn’t matter if it’s by 1 point 3 points or 50 points. 12-1 10-3 to 6-4 is a clear regression in performance. Before you sling the covid excuse at me every team was impacted by covid not just UCF. It’s literally a fact his record got worse each season as more of his recruits entered.

Had last year's team played Mizzou or USCe during the middle of the season (as it was during the original schedule), those games would have been Ls. The Troy game might have been one too.

Last year's team rolled over and quit on Pruitt after halftime of the 3rd game

Nope. We would have beaten Missouri or SC at any point last year.
