Cheap excuse imo.Naw, that team quit on Pruitt early in the season. We won a 50/50 game against USCe and Mizzou was a completely different team once they found a QB. Once this team quit on Pruitt, we weren't going to win or even keep it within single digits of another SEC team except a historically bad Vandy team.....
If I remember correctly, we have not beaten vegas season win totals by more than .5 game since Fulmer left. That's so depressing, we have only underachieved.I know alot of fans are being "realistic" on their opinions for this up coming season and rightfully so, but damn wouldn't it be nice to over achieve for a change, we've underachieved so much maybe this is the year![]()
I’m not sure it would be.
I know that 6 wins is more than 3 wins, but let’s dive into this more.
If last year’s team had played their original schedule, they would have been 6-6. So with that, 6 wins this season with 4 MAJOR cupcakes doesn’t seem like an improvement.
Let’s look at the changes from last year to this year and see where the advantage goes:
So, overall I have 2021 with a 3-2 advantage over 2020. I think JG and Pruitt could go 6-6 with this team and schedule. I think Heupel could win 7 or 8 if he is gonna be the man to lead us out of this valley. 6-6 means we’re roughly at the same spot that we’ve been the last few coaches. 4 or 5 wins means we’ve regressed.
- Despite posters saying that HT and EG suck, we lost a lot of talent from last year’s roster. Advantage 2020.
- But, this year’s team had a full Spring and should have a full Fall camp before the season begins. Huge Advantage 2021.
- More than likely we will have a DLine coach for the whole season. And his name is Rodney Gardener. Advantage 2021.
- We will have a different qb than JG and Chaney was not the Chaney of years ago. Heupel has a much better scheme. Advantage 2021.
- This year’s D is a step down from last year’s D, and they kinda sucked. Advantage 2020.
The good news is I think Heupel gets us to 7 or 8 wins this season, and could possibly luck into 9. I think Uf or Uga could be a magical upset too.
Cheap excuse imo.
Why can we never just admit we weren't very good and had garbage schemes?
Don't get how a quitter team could have led UGA at halftime. Or been ahead of Auburn, Arky, kept it respectable with UF. And UK wasn't a lack of effort, just total madness with 2 pick sixes.
I often see this excuse, but rarely the evidence. Show me guys continually giving up on plays and not giving a shiz and I'll believe it. I didn't see that enough to consider it legit and I think it's a disservice to the players that worked hard all season.
Go watch the multitude of players goofing off on the sideline against Vandy in 2018 when they were beating our brains in. In 2020 against UK, you saw players with no emotion at all or goofing off.
You can't see the lack of effort in the 2nd half of those two games and not realize some guys had tuned the coaching staff out. Most likely gave good effort but when you see a handful not care, then yeah, you got a culture (coaching) problem.
Im not even blaming the players. There was a toxic culture and that is 1000% the fault of Jeremy Pruitt.
Makes you wonder if all these off-season prognosticators on this site shouldIf I remember correctly, we have not beaten vegas season win totals by more than .5 game since Fulmer left. That's so depressing, we have only underachieved.
Great points.Cheap excuse imo.

I actually think 6-6 would be disappointing considering the favorable schedule. There are already 6 games on schedule that are legitimately winnable and we'll probably be favored in. There are 3 games that are tossups and could go either way. And there 3 are games that are extremely unlikely that we will win. So if our realistic range of wins falls somewhere between 6-6 being the floor and 9-3 being the ceiling, I'd say if we finish 6-6 that's really not saying much.
Games we should win:
Bowling Green
Pitt
Tennessee Tech
South Carolina
South Alabama
Vanderbilt
Games that are tossups:
Ole Miss
Missouri
Kentucky
Games that we are unlikely to win:
Florida
Georgia
Alabama
Missouri is NOT a toss-up. They will be clearly favored against us. Ole Miss is likely in same spot. I also don't like iur chances against UK. All three have more experience and talent than our roster.
Missouri is most certainly a toss up! So if they're favored by 3, you're just going to go ahead and chalk that up as an "L"? The only games on our schedule where we are flat out overmatched are Georgia and Alabama. Florida less so but I threw them in as well due to our unsuccessful history with them. To say Missouri is already an "L" is a little far fetched.
Wish this game was in Neyland. I’ve been to Mizzou a couple of times for different games with a buddy of mine, and that field just always seems hot. Hope our guys are ready.Missouri will have a far better roster than us and they are hot. They ended up finishing. 500 last year. They have a winning overall record vs. TN. People keep underestimating them.
Regardless of why Pruitt is gone, I think we wanted him gone, same for JG. I’m not saying 2-6 is successful season. I’m just preparing myself for a rebuilding year and trying enjoy it best I can.
I predict you are going to have a sad and frustrating season.
