Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Disagreed some with his Marrone take. Mentioned his sparse recruiting connections in the south and how that could be a hindrance. Butch didn't have any to my knowledge and he pulled in some good players.
I think Butch came in just as a ton of our legacy guys were seniors and they just fell in his lap.

How? That relationship has been damaged beyond repair IMO.
We have heard so many different narratives from so many different directions I'm but sure what is true and what isn't. From the outside things look contentious, but maybe they aren't on the inside. Apparently there is a significant support structure still in place for him, and it appears he knows that.

I have heard some rumors about what was found in the initial investigation, and I believe certain media members have the same information.

I'm not going to pretend I have the full scope, but if what I've heard is true, it's much more likely this is just a Jeremy Pruitt/coaching staff issue and not necessarily something that will hurt the school. But, like @LA Vol said, once you get the NCAA snooping around, anything is possible.
You wanna share that with the rest of us who are certainly questioning wtf is going on? 😂

Lots of talk that Muschamp is going to take an analyst role at UGA instead of a DC job. He is going to Butch his buyout.

I know everyone likes to talk about this, but I have no real issue. It was not a secret that one of Butch's sons was going into his senior year in high school. Muschamp has two teenage sons. These guys have had fast-paced lives for years. Being an analyst allows them more time with family.

If they wanted to fire him for performance, it would have been done a month ago. If they had clear cause, they would have set things in motion. Someone could write a check today. Or Boyd could decide to fire him tomorrow simply because he's had enough. Or legal could find damning evidence hidden in a backroom with the beer barrel. Or UT could throw caution to the wind, fire him and pay the buyout. Or UT could continue on the default path, because that has had significant support all along.
yep. so many other plausible, more realistic things than what's been thrown around here lately. agreed.

I'm with @LA Vol ...if Pruitt was getting fired because of performance it would have already happened...and weeks ago...

Which means if he's fired now, it likely means something big is happening with violations. That's not good for perspective coaches. It would have been much better/easier to have made a decent hire had we fired him weeks ago due to performance.

Basically, if he's fired, we're screwed...because no one decent is coming here with all thats going on. Id just assume keep him one more year, fire him for performance next year and be in a spot to actually make a decent hire versus ending up with another Derek Dooley or heaven forbid, Botch Jones.

Nothing good is coming out of this either way it goes though...

Recruiting ties don’t matter. It’s been proven countless times and sometimes the people with the most “ties” are the worst.

To me it’s just a fancy way of saying “we want a good ol southern boy”

2 of the past 3 hires have fell into that category. Hasn't worked out too well for us.

Eh couple lossed schollies and a 1 year bowl ban at worst no matter what they find. Won’t matter. We make too much money for the NCAA to really hammer us. Not gonna lose much sleep over missing out on the bad boy mower bowl next year if we have a new coach.

neither one of them had an issue getting good players here. They just couldn’t coach or manage people. I’m not really sure what the hell dooley was good at Tbh. Combing his hair and always dressed nice i guess.

I watched it. Louisiana played more physical and looked better prepared. And I’m a big Campbell guy.
The team that wins always looks like the better prepared, and how about maybe one guys QB just had a off game, while the other ones was in zone that day?

I am not saying that happened in that particular game...just that stuff like getting more of the important calls, or guys making spectacular plays, or turnover margin..or a ton of things like that can be the difference in winning and losing one game.

I'm not afraid of the penalties given the NCAAs track record the last few years. I'm afraid of being right back where we are in 3 years looking for another coach because we hired Kevin Steele or Dave Doreen.
