Fickell, Campbell, Freeze, Malzahn, and Herman I could deal with.

After that, it’s pretty much digging at the bottom of the barrel.
Would rather have Napier than Gus. Also, why not consider Napier when, as I said, he went up to Iowa State and beat Campbell this year? He's also a TN guy and most likely would come here.

The guy Basilio was interviewing was all in on Billy Napier and Luke Fickell for UT.

He didn't like O'Brien, Marrone, and Herman as fits for UT.
Disagreed some with his Marrone take. Mentioned his sparse recruiting connections in the south and how that could be a hindrance. Butch didn't have any to my knowledge and he pulled in some good players.

Some dude on Basilio giving great breakdowns on the coaching candidates being tossed around.
Herman- not a good talent developer and pissed off the boosters
Marrone- Not a good fit in the south. No recruiting ties. Hard nose coach. Good technician.
Malzahn- Offense is stale, doesn't use rb's very well, carried by Steele, good recruiter
Fickell- Knows the area, surrounds himself with good staff, offense is innovative

all paraphrased
So there's going to be something about any coach we hire (or the one we keep) for everyone to complain about?

I know you're kidding and all, but that win over Campbell is significant. Dude is at Louisiana and Campbell is the hottest coach out there. What he has done at Iowa State has been extraordinary. Did anyone watch that game?
It is eye-opening, but would you honestly rather have Napier or Campbell? (I know Campbell is not coming here).

I would take Campbell all day, every day.

Yeah, it's a good win. I wouldn't hate a Napier hire. Thing with Napier is that his potential is somewhat unknown. That makes that hire a little more exciting. With Herman, Malzahn, Marrone, etc., you know you aren't getting a top 5 coach. They just aren't that guy. But Napier could be. He could also be much worse than those three.

Fulmer gonna hire via transitive property, guys.

Napier beat Campbell. Campbell is out.

Chadwell beat Napier. Napier is out.

Freeze beat Chadwell. Chadwell is out.

Doeren beat Freeze. Freeze is out.

Fuente beat Doeren. Doeren is out.

CLAWSON BEAT FUENTE. FUENTE IS OUT, CLAWFENSE IS BACK, it's 2008 again on the Hill!

If Fulmer keeps Forrest Gump you better change your Avatar. Lol

I like Napier but I don’t think he’s ready for an SEC job.
I mean who knows? You see, to me, it feels like Gus is ready for a job but maxed out. We know what he is. Offense is stale, would provide stability but not much excitement. To me that's a safe hire that restores respectability but no long term hope. With Napier, this is a guy winning at a lower level who has been offered by other top jobs (AU) and has been doing it for a while. He's an offensive guy also. He would bring more hope and excitement with possibly a higher ceiling but also a lower floor. Depends on what you want.
