extending him after year 2 with NO MITIGATION was the WTF moment. Ya wanna bump his salary, or give him more pool for hiring assistants by all means restructure, but why remove mitigation?
The only justification for a no mitigation is when ya got a championship winning coach that you want to give him assurance he's safe until he decides he wants to retire or leave (Saban, Dabo, Day, etc.) not a 13-12 first time HC that's entering year 3 with huge turnover in his staff.
Didn't Butch prove that to us already that top 10 classes aren't the end all at UT for results? 2014-7th, 2015-4th and in 2017 we went 4-8...

The Chancellor has faith in the AD, and supports him.
The AD believes that Pruitt will turn things around given time.
Chaney will have say in who the new OL coach is, and he expects Chaney to have more input in the offensive philosophy next year.
Pruitt will not be fired for football reasons. The only way he does not return is if something damning comes from the investigation.

This has been the reality since the first of December. Everything else has been wishful thinking and conjecture.Doug Matthews on the Zone

Well, that DEFINITELY leaves us out!!!Not sure Phillip Fulmer would be the best AD for Napier judging on his comments below.
Why Billy Napier keeps passing up Power 5 jobs
again, i'm not arguing for or against it.
if he won this past season, no one would care, or likely even know he had a no mitigation clause in his contract.
or maybe you're the one that would care? you're certainly entitled to. either way. it wouldn't be a big deal to most.
