Why does UT have to operate its football program like it’s Austin Peay? You’re telling me coaches are saying no to 3-4 million a year to coach in the SEC with all the bells and whistles you could want? Also, it seems like the admin and AD are aligned. What am I missing?

With all due respect, the 3-4 million a year may be what you're missing. The AD is going to have to dig deeper than that to hire a coach capable of putting out this dumpster fire.

No, what I'm saying is, UT is unlikely to fire Pruitt to hire Anybody But Pruitt. If UT were committed to firing at all costs, UT would already be in the 2020 coaching sweepstakes.

It will have to be somebody that has strong support among a very small group of decisionmakers. And one decisionmaker stands taller than the rest.

LA you need a boiler plate response. Just so you don’t have to repeat yourself! Maybe they can sticky it in this tread! Hahaha.

Impossible to be on this board and have an opinion that Pruitt should get another year.

Most of y’all’s preseason commemts about how great our coaches were, and now complete opposite. Yes the QB decisions were botched and Cheney’s second rodeo wasn’t fun. However, it’s 2020 and COVID. I’m ok with giving Pruitt another year. I do insist on changing some assistants. My recommendation starts with Friend. How is our OL so terrible with the bad a$$ players we have? Probably fire Cheney and promote Tee to OC. Or heck, maybe Art Briles would take an OC position. A big reason the defense was bad is because they got no help from the offense. A better offense would have made our defense better. Also, gotta get better on the DL too.

You pretty much listed all that merits firing Pruitt. I have no idea why the players aren’t getting all out of their potential. I desperately want to like Pruitt’s team. He’s a good dude. But the coaching carousel can’t keep happening.

We could have Freeze by tomorrow but we won’t. He’s an instant upgrade at coaching. It’s that simple but we have some phobia about his past when every other school in our conference and America is openly cheating and probably doing the same thing. Liberty, a Christian university, hired him. We don’t like winning.

I'm committing to a new school Sunday if gump isn't gone. You joining?

He said his only vice was that he likes to chew a little when he gets nervous. I guess he was really nervous on those Florida recruiting trips :eek::eek:,

38 Days: How Alabama Pulled off the Great Heist of Nick Saban

READ IT...LET IT BURN IN YOUR MIND THE DEPTHS MAL MOORE WENT TO GET HIS GUY.

“ The flux from January 1997 to January 2007 included a 1-9 record against Tennessee, a 3-7 record against Auburn, a 3-7 record against LSU, and losses to a murderers row of also-rans: Kentucky, Central Florida, Louisiana Tech, Northern Illinois, and Southern Miss. A new paradigm of high turnover and NCAA sanctions had shifted the Tide from elite program to laughingstock. If anything, the Shula hire brought stability (but not wins) and by late November 2006, Alabama sat at a paltry 6-6 and was looking forward to another Shreveport-esque bowl.”

The question really is, who can we get that we would like to have... and think is worth making a change for right now? Most lists start with the same names, and every school calls them. You do your due diligence, collect your nos then see how far down the list you have to go before determining if it's worth it.

I think at this point most of us are willing to go a little farther down the list than previous years because we just want someone who wants to be here and give it 100%. It is very clear and obvious the current coach is not completely vested in this program and it shows on the field. So much mismanagement, I think getting someone in here who can just maximize and develop the talent we currently have on the roster is a huge step in the right direction for the program. A competent staff and a coach willing to check all the boxes with good chemistry would have us with 2-3 more wins this season...

Tennessee would never. We are reactive instead of proactive. Pruitt has give us some talent to work with now we need a coach to win with it.

Just out of curiosity (this may have been answered previously but I haven't seen it), does anyone think Freeze isn't being considered a candidate due to the SEC office? I would think if they let Bruce back in anyone would be fair game, but I just haven't seen any indication either way. I don't necessarily think Freeze is the top guy (elite level, however he's obviously a step up for us currently) like others seem to but if Auburn is seriously considering Steele then I don't know how they wouldn't have Freeze above him.

Our administration takes "no" too easily. But I know a guy who would say yes without hesitation.

Absolutely not. You don’t waste a year letting our players get worse, more losses, and kill recruiting. It will be another three year rebuild then. If you cut ties now, we still have talent to complete and make a quick comeback. Delaying the inevitable is always a bad choice. It sets you further back in the long run.
I hate to tell you, it’s another 3 year rebuild anyway.

I’m not going to campaign for Pruitt, I don’t think he’s the guy, but fans are delusional if you think any coach is going to come in here and flip this around that fast. It’ll be our 5th head coach in 13 years, we’re damaged goods.

The players love him, this is not disputable. You blow him out, and that coach is going to be dealing with defects because of the one year transfer rule. So, that roster you think Hugh Freeze is going to win 8-9 games with isn’t going to look like it does now.

I openly admit I go back and forth on what to do because this thing is complicated. People over simplify things to fit their narrative, which is exactly what’s happening here. I could care less who coaches, I just want to win. However, I’m not sit in a vacuum and act like our admin isn’t happy or isn’t analyzing the situation to make the best decision possible.

Well I'm gonna assume Meyer said no since Pruitt is still on the sidelines

I actually think the roster is pretty good on the offense. We have talent/weapons on offense but can't utilize them properly. Defense is another story. We have no pass rush. LBs are thin outside of HT. Bryce is solid at CB but safety and other corner is mediocre.

Normally I would be excited and worried about recruits before ESD, but all I can concentrate on is believing we are kicking the tires on a new coach. I do like our recruiting class if it stays together. I just think that we will keep CJP and change some assistant coaches and hope that changes the trajectory of the program.
