Bad decisions in the past beget more bad decisions. We've hired more coaches in the last decade because we are either incompetent, cheap, or both.
You’re absolutely right. And unfortunately sometimes a by product of those bad decisions is mistrust from your income sources.

Lost an important person to me to COVID today.

I know we joke around here a lot, and you guys give me a hard time sometimes, but I really appreciate the welcome distraction from some very tough times.

My piece of advice: wear your mask, and call that family member you’ve been thinking about. You’re not too busy. It’ll be worth it.
Prayers and my condolences.

Again, Auburn isn’t on their 4th coach in a decade and they can afford to move on (financially and institutionally), but that’s much harder at Tennessee because of the past decade of mistakes and mismanagement. The situations are not comparable.

And when Bama was going through their debacle there’s weren’t $10-20 million dollar buyouts and coaches contracts weren’t what they are now. And a guy was fired for cause in the midst of that too. Plus, they narrowly avoided disaster when Rich Rod turned them down and they fell into Saban.
Okay say we keep Pruitt, he makes staffing changes, which will mean more buyouts for staff, plus anyone with a brain can see the writing on the walls for Pruitt and will not want to be part of a lame duck staff. Plus the longer we’re below even being mediocre, ticket sales will tank. Fire Pruitt and hire a big name coach and tickets will likely offset any buyout money.

Again what does keeping do? We know what he is and he isn’t going to be competing for the east.

Oh Lordy.
You just dropped a little nugget for the bat sh^t crazies and now you must pay the price. UT coaching searches, even though we don't currently have one, is like a drug to them. Give them a little nugget and watch them beg for just another taste. Enjoy your new "insider" status ob. They're gonna drive you nuts :cool::cool:

That is the thing...some believe we still don’t know what he is and isn’t. I’m one of those people. Don’t need to argue about that, just a statement that some people have seen flashes and a young HC who is learning how to be an HC. One who has set a decent formation and made a few deadly mistakes, QB namely. I’m not saying he’s the guy, I’m just saying I don’t know that he isn’t the guy yet.

The financials are MUCH different now than 20 years ago. That’s what some are missing. And they lucked into Saban because Rich Rod said no at the 11th hour.
You’re right. There wasn’t $40 million extra in tv money or increased ticket prices. We gross way more.

Don’t bring logical thoughts to this board.
I’m in the same boat. But from what some of the insiders say he has some problems that I hope he can overcome. Mainly temper and control. If he can step back and manage instead of micromanage and relax and have some fun. Be serious when he needs to be he may be ok. I’m on the boat to give him time but at the same time if the right higher is available and the AD/School don’t see him lasting, might as well pull the trigger.

I’m not saying he’s going to workout at Tennessee, but sometimes you can’t afford to move on.

It’s like being in a bad marriage, but it costs too much to get divorced.

I’ve said from the beginning you only move on from Pruitt for someone Freeze level or higher. You don’t move on for a Chadwell or that level.

Impossible to be on this board and have an opinion that Pruitt should get another year.

Most of y’all’s preseason commemts about how great our coaches were, and now complete opposite. Yes the QB decisions were botched and Cheney’s second rodeo wasn’t fun. However, it’s 2020 and COVID. I’m ok with giving Pruitt another year. I do insist on changing some assistants. My recommendation starts with Friend. How is our OL so terrible with the bad a$$ players we have? Probably fire Cheney and promote Tee to OC. Or heck, maybe Art Briles would take an OC position. A big reason the defense was bad is because they got no help from the offense. A better offense would have made our defense better. Also, gotta get better on the DL too.

What has he shown that gives you hope that he can win and compete with Florida and Uga. Hell even Kentucky for that matter. And if we played mizzou right now we’d lose to them to.

We’re going to struggle to get to 3 conference wins, we can’t even count our non-conference games as wins anymore. Yet you want to give the guy more time?

Again, Chaney isn't the problem and Tee isn't the immediate answer. That's a Larry Scott move. I don't have a problem with your take except the Chaney and Tee part.
