Is your apathy at an all time high???

Martin was awesome?? Far from it. He was below average. Martin couldnt hold Brays shoelaces. If Bray would have had the team Martin did, he would have likely done much better than Martin ever thought about. As far as arm talent goes, Martin doesnt belong in the same category as Manning, Bray, Shuler or Kelly.
If Bray had Martin's character--or even close to it, I'd argue a little. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother.

I wish folks high up in the UTAD would read this thread ... not that it would do any good, but this is just a small sample of what the whole of VolNation (not just this site, but the fanbase) feels like. Whether they read this thread or not (probably not) they are still about to find out how we feel. 102,455 is going to be as distant memory to the UTAD as the 90's are to the fanbase.

But so many posters have said this year doesn't count or is a free year and we shouldn't care about winning this year. They said we should just play underclassmen preparing for the future.
Anyway, I am spending more time this year on volnation reading the meltdown of various posters and I enjoy watching the games to see how the coaches and players respond to adversity. So far I am not happy with the way they (the coaches) have responded but still hope to see positive changes in game plans, adjustments, different players, and improved play.

Yep. After ten years ore rebuilding, we are locked in with Beldar for at least one if not two years of this. It’s hard to care

Yes. And it’s not necessarily Pruitts fault. After 10 years of the same old disappointing seasons, apathy starts to hit earlier and earlier. If we go get another coach after this year, it’ll probably set in year 2 for that guy.

Guess mine started in earnest in the next to the last year of Dooley. That's when I decided supporting UT's miserable football program with contributions and attendance was no longer a worthy investment. I usually did 10K per year and had Terrace seats. It's been on a continued wane since then. I'd been fooled/excited in the early stages of each and every hire since. Won't lie. Thought maybe we had the "answer" each time UT swapped out one loser for another. Yeah...even with Pruitt. Figured the fat man knew a coach when he saw one. Of course, I ignored all the hires that got his butt canned. I also ignored the era he'd been successful in vs the game as it stands and is played today. He's a dinosaur and hired a like minded critter that's borderline extinct in the game today. Now I'm way off the bandwagon on hiring an "up and comer". We've shown an uncanny ability to choose the absolute worst coaches. It's now time for proven ability. A hope and prayer won't fly anymore.

UT needs a guy who can really push the envelope in recruiting. It also has to be a guy younger and more innovative on offense or who recognizes the need for such an OC and can find/hire one. If he's got or can find someone who can slow down today's offenses, that's also a plus. He doesn't necessarily need to win pressers, but at least be able to speak in complete sentences and not come across like he has a speech impediment/learning disability. He is, after all, the face of the program and to a large degree, the university. Everyone knows who the sits atop my list and the guy right behind him.

The fact that you loved Bray shows you must be young. Kelly, Shuler, Manning and Martin were awesome. Clausen wasn’t the best but man he was tough. Bray was just a bit above average.
Bray was head and shoulders above Martin and Kelly

Kiffin brought excitement, Dooley was a joke but those Bray offenses always kept things interesting, Butch was snake oil but I definitely bought in for a while. With Pruitt, there just isn’t really anything that excites me. If we were playing boring football yet winning, that would be one thing. This is just the perfect recipe for apathy.

This right here. The worst thing about this season is not only are we losing, but we don't seem to be good at anything! We are not fun to watch in any phase of the game and I even said this during our winning streak.

It's obvious who you want, and I think he'd be a great hire ... and will be for somebody somewhere.

That said, I don't know who is your guy right behind him. Who you got?
I'm not sure I have a guy behind him ... for me it's Gru ... er, I mean, Freeze or bust!

This is the worst problem, no fun at all. With Bray we had no d but the offense lit it up and was fun to watch. I think this needs to be our new football marching song. It also is how we look to everyone else.

Is it worse than previous coaches??? Please share your opinion...

I wouldn't say apathy; I would say my disappointment is high. I attribute all that to all the issues we have endured for the past 13 years.........I am burned out on all the BS on the coaching and players. I am a Vol Fan, and other schools are experiencing the same thing; I just want it to end and field a competitive team.

I put up walls, emotionally speaking, so they can't hurt me anymore. I don't know if I can ever let them in again.

We have been beaten down for so long the odd thing is that it has taken this long for it to sink in that we are and have been mediocre. I was in attendance on the sideline the last time we beat Bama with Arian over the top as well as many significant wins prior to that time. Good memories but many more disappointments. Just tired of watching the comedy of errors.

For the first time in my life that I can remember, I did not watch or listen to the Vol game{Arkansas}. I am almost ready to give up college football. There will never be another team for me. I have never been a rah-rah SEC SEC type. F em.

Same here. Hell, I can't even remember what I did during that "game" but I didn't watch and didn't care. First time in 30 years that I didn't even bother to care to watch.

I’m at the point now where I don’t care.

We’ve been through this exact same situation before and nothing has changed.

I’ll spend more time on Saturdays doing other things than watching this clown show being put on by Pruitt.

Until Fulmer makes a change, football is dead to me.
