Don’t know a lot about Brumbaugh but Felton is a big add. I recall his name being mentioned a LOT by recruits when he was here and think he will be a big time hire. He fits that hard work ethic and good with recruits mentality that’s opposite of Rocker or Rumph. Both of those guys just seemed to be coasting in recruiting.

I am not worried about development in the least with Pruitt and Ansley still here. I would imagine Pruitt will be more involved with the LBs and let Felton and Nieds go fishing. He has Ansley who he trusts to handle the DBs.

so how would you expect him to have the same resume lmao?

it also doesnt mean hes not as good of a coach at this point. This is hilarious. There is nothing to be upset about lol.
Take 10 years off Rocker's resume and by that time he had don stints at three different SEC schools as a DL coach.

Also, I forget, but I wasn’t trying to shots at LA Tech. (In case you are associated with them)

I get it, just was hoping for a big name with all the momentum, but like I said, I trust Pruitt and I hope I look dumb saying all of that. I want them to do well.

i'm not, but i hear you. its not a splash hire. but it seems he's a good teacher / developer, and no one really has a bead on his recruiting, but he can't be worse than rocker. not worried about this one.

To add to the recruiting, idk if I’m accurate, but the last recruit I could find that he recruited was a DT from the 19 class and he was the secondary.

So I think he will be more of a Rocker.

Can we have a conversation or disagreement without all the disparaging? I understand the concerns that Pruitt is hiring less experienced/less well known coaches... they may not prove to be upgrades. However, I have been impressed by every move Pruitt has made, even when he hired Tyson Helton. It didn't work out, but rumor was he was going to eat the buyout and let him go after 1 year because it wasn't working. I don't see evidence of Pruitt willing to settle for mediocre. He is aiming for the moon, and I love that about our coach.
All well and good, but there's nothing wrong with questioning the hires. No one has said they will fail, but those of us who show concern get attacked as if we're somehow lesser fans. It's like people who defended Butch even when it was apparent he was failing. There's nothing wrong with expressing concern so it doesn't warrant attack.

Come on, Bass. I understand, but how did you feel about Neids when he first came here? These guys could be beasts, but just need opportunities. I guarantee you the opportunities at UT are much more attractive now than they have been for a while.
They could be there’s no doubt. I’m not saying they’re bad hires. I’m saying we don’t know. I was expecting splash hires like Jay because we have so much money to spend. But we didn’t do that. These guys are unproven. Doesn’t mean they’ll be bad. But we don’t know if they’re upgrades either.

Sooo Rocker watching his son play at Vandy wasn’t as big of a deal as we thought and it could just honesty be me but I feel these hires maybe have been slightly rushed but been in the works for a while...you don’t replace two well known position coaches with unknowns further more I feel like he could have offered any well known popular position coach and they would have came here,we are a hot team right now who just snagged ND’s OC for a analyst position...like come on lol

This.
Pruitt was already grooming Felton when he was here previously, so he knows what he is getting in him. He obviously feels confident in making him a position coach (if the hire happens).

i think pruitt wants guys with that "reach and get it" mindset. he's a hard worker and has adjusted to SEC head coaching, had to put together his first staff in a hurry. He's developing this program right now

If he wants Brumbaugh rather than Rocker, well its probably the best thing for our program

13 they were 2-10
14 they were 5-7
15 they were 5-7
16 they were 7-6

I will say that if he is a more a coach than recruiter then that’s fine this year since we need one with all the older guys, but I just hope he replaces them with studs.
Hard to quantify DL play with W/L record because theres a whole lot more facets to the game than that, he had 3 All-SEC players during that time-span, IDK all that much about him but if Mel Tucker wants him as DL coach that's good enough for me

Let's over-exaggerate the impact of assistant coaches today! Because...internets!

Maybe the role of the assistant coach isn’t a big factor and if that’s true then wanting stability like Clemson has shown works is even more valid.

Jmo but when you have this much turnover the players start to see that any kind of family atmosphere is lost around a program.

The fact that these hires were made so quickly seems to indicate Pruitt had targeted them already over other potential names we would have expected in here. Which says a lot imo. Doesn't seem like these were backup plans.
It seems like he might just have a plan and know a little bit about what he is doing. 😁

The Oscars were last night.
