Also, I forget, but I wasn’t trying to shots at LA Tech. (In case you are associated with them)
I get it, just was hoping for a big name with all the momentum, but like I said, I trust Pruitt and I hope I look dumb saying all of that. I want them to do well.
To add to the recruiting, idk if I’m accurate, but the last recruit I could find that he recruited was a DT from the 19 class and he was the secondary.i'm not, but i hear you. its not a splash hire. but it seems he's a good teacher / developer, and no one really has a bead on his recruiting, but he can't be worse than rocker. not worried about this one.
All well and good, but there's nothing wrong with questioning the hires. No one has said they will fail, but those of us who show concern get attacked as if we're somehow lesser fans. It's like people who defended Butch even when it was apparent he was failing. There's nothing wrong with expressing concern so it doesn't warrant attack. Can we have a conversation or disagreement without all the disparaging? I understand the concerns that Pruitt is hiring less experienced/less well known coaches... they may not prove to be upgrades. However, I have been impressed by every move Pruitt has made, even when he hired Tyson Helton. It didn't work out, but rumor was he was going to eat the buyout and let him go after 1 year because it wasn't working. I don't see evidence of Pruitt willing to settle for mediocre. He is aiming for the moon, and I love that about our coach.
They could be there’s no doubt. I’m not saying they’re bad hires. I’m saying we don’t know. I was expecting splash hires like Jay because we have so much money to spend. But we didn’t do that. These guys are unproven. Doesn’t mean they’ll be bad. But we don’t know if they’re upgrades either.Come on, Bass. I understand, but how did you feel about Neids when he first came here? These guys could be beasts, but just need opportunities. I guarantee you the opportunities at UT are much more attractive now than they have been for a while.
Don’t know a lot about Brumbaugh but Felton is a big add. I recall his name being mentioned a LOT by recruits when he was here and think he will be a big time hire. He fits that hard work ethic and good with recruits mentality that’s opposite of Rocker or Rumph. Both of those guys just seemed to be coasting in recruiting.
I am not worried about development in the least with Pruitt and Ansley still here. I would imagine Pruitt will be more involved with the LBs and let Felton and Nieds go fishing. He has Ansley who he trusts to handle the DBs.
Hard to quantify DL play with W/L record because theres a whole lot more facets to the game than that, he had 3 All-SEC players during that time-span, IDK all that much about him but if Mel Tucker wants him as DL coach that's good enough for me13 they were 2-10
14 they were 5-7
15 they were 5-7
16 they were 7-6
I will say that if he is a more a coach than recruiter then that’s fine this year since we need one with all the older guys, but I just hope he replaces them with studs.
Let's over-exaggerate the impact of assistant coaches today! Because...internets!
It seems like he might just have a plan and know a little bit about what he is doing. The fact that these hires were made so quickly seems to indicate Pruitt had targeted them already over other potential names we would have expected in here. Which says a lot imo. Doesn't seem like these were backup plans.
Maybe the role of the assistant coach isn’t a big factor and if that’s true then wanting stability like Clemson has shown works is even more valid.
Jmo but when you have this much turnover the players start to see that any kind of family atmosphere is lost around a program.
