Give up the idea of coach loyalty. The only guys that may have loyalty are coaches that played at that school. If your coach didn't play at your school, then just expect that he's open to to options if pursued.

That's about it. Anyone else can come or go as money demands.

And how'd that Shula hire work out for them? Did they take a chance on another young coach with little coaching experience when they fired him? No, they went after a seasoned HC in Saban. Not to mention that the hiring of an untested Shula was an aberration in their previous hiring practices, Franchione had 16 years HC experience when Alabama hired him, Mike Price had 20, Stallings had 9.

And Duds, it was more or less a rhetorical question. Nobody remembers the coach who followed a legend. I'd bet 99% of Oklahoma fans couldn't tell you who followed Barry Switzer.

It's hard for any coach to follow a legend. Oh, sure, the money will probably be good, but whomever follows Saban will have the bar set so high they will need a telescope to see it. They'll get three years and three years only before Bammers start burning trailer parks.

here we go again........lets face it, this questions has been asked too many times. its like the insecure boyfriend that has the hot girl but is already worried about some other dude that is not even in the picture, just paranoia.........but, to answer your question, if guys like Rick Barnes are not COMPLETELY satisfied at UT to instinctually turn down UCLA, i think you have to agree that CJP would listen to an offer from Alabama. If Fulmer can get the house in order, then i dont think CJP would leave. but if the administration is still a **** show, my bet would be on CJP taking that job. its totally up to the Administration to create an attractive environment for top coaches to stay. anything is possible in the next 4-5 years. no need to worry about it now. we should win as much as we can with CJP and hope Fulmer rights the ship by the time Saban wants to retire. i know Dabo will be the first phone call and Jimbo might be the 2nd phone call. CJP would be in the top 5 calls made but not the first call. Dont rule out Kirby Smart getting a Bama offer before Pruitt, especially if Georgia has won at least one NC by then. i could also see a Freddie Kitchens offer happening by that time too. Dont forget that Saban left the NFL with a sub-par record and landed Bama. Good chance Kitchens will be ready to leave the Browns by then and will be credible enough to take over for Saban as a legacy HC.

It won’t be hard to recruit one just show the tapes and even by some chance he can’t every kid sees or here’s about OK every week so I think the trainer in some way or form keeps rolling.

IMO, Dabo is much more likely to stay at Clempsun because his road the playoffs is much easier there vs. in the SEC...even at Bama. Much different that Pruitt leaving UT for Bama.

Don't get me wrong, he's probably got one of the best minds for offense in the nation. Before Lyle hired Debord, I was hoping he was going to go after Riley (he was OC at East Carolina and OU got to him first) and light it up.

'Bout that...

Anyway, Bama will likely shoot for the moon, fail, but come up with someone fairly respectable in the end. It truly is hard to follow a legend in a well established program.

How did Price and Franchione work out for them? As I said before stop putting Alabama on a pedestal, they made one great hire, and when Saban retires they fall apart.

Ok what exactly has he done so far?...He hired us a football coach with no head coaching experience...He hired decent assistant coaches around him so that MIGHT help...He hired a women's basketball coach that nobody really wanted but had a Tennessee background so that was good enough for him since the last one with UT ties didn't work out..He gave our basketball coach a huge raise to keep him at UT although if UCLA had paid his buyout he would be long gone by now....Soooo exactly what has he done so far?..Only time will tell if he has made the right choices...The guys before him made crappy hires, It is not known if Fulmer has done the same....YET

Alabama's first call would likely be to Dabo Swinney of Clemson once Saban retires.

Pruitt would want to build his own dynasty at Tennessee.

IMO this was his intention from the start. Get Tennessee back to where it needs to be within 4-5 years, Nick retires and he throws (fastball) his name into the hat for Bama coach.

Hindsight is 20/20. I still don't see them going after Pruitt with less than a decade of HC experience unless he strings together multiple 10+ win seasons at UT, that include wins over Saban.

It will depend upon Pruitt's tenure and success with the Vols at the time Lucifer's Vessel retires from Alabama. If Pruitt had built a program that's competing for championships and has defeated Saban's Crimson Tide from time to time (envision the years that will take), and the Pruitt family has happily established itself in Knoxville, and the Haslams or the regents haven't screwed the pooch at UT, Jeremy, his wife, and his kids may want to remain Knoxvillians. Such is not unprecedented in the SEC.

Which is why I think in the end a lot of guys will say no because of the given pressure before they even get to campus. I think it was Kentucky basketball that went through the same thing after Tubby was let go.

I think they’ll offer Dabo a “blank check” and they have every right to do so considering his resume. Like you said though he’s got nothing to gain from going there considering what he’s built at Clemson. People say here locally that Clemson has whatever money it takes to match but who knows if that’s true or not

I’ve stated my case before.

He’s on the same page as Pruitt following his plan is. Ansley is well respected around college and the pro level. He got Chaney to listen when he didn’t have to. Chaney had a lot of elite talent at Georgia and he chose to come to UT. He didn’t follow past coaches blindly like the last AD. Hes done his homework Where the before mentioned assistants wouldn’t have come here and didn’t under the last AD/Staff. Your right about the basketball thing and I’ve said the same about the situation. Facts are facts though and he fought to keep Barnes and he got it done. The last 2 ADs wouldn’t have thought twice about letting him walk. You can’t compare Holy to Kellie. It’s night and day as far as I’m concerned. We might not want to admit it but she quit before the season was done that showed in the players. Kellie is up coaching and putting forth the effort to win. She’s not sitting on the bench arms crossed thinking about what excuse she’ll use at the Presser. That’s what he’s done...
