I don't think it will be a splash hire, but doesn't mean it will be unproven either. What are you basing this off of? Pruitt has never hired to replace someone.
I agree but at some point the the excuse of "Butch" has to be dropped. Next year is year 2. After watching this season, hearing recruits say some on the team isn't bought in, and seeing how some played(or didn't play) there's more going on over there than just it being "Butchs fault."It is what it is. I said 6-6 would be a tremendous season. Its not a good team at all. I know many will disagree and say its excuses but Butch left Pruitt with a steaming pile of nothing.
I don't agree with this at all. We have had some good coordinators here since 2008... Monte Kiffin, Jim Chaney, Justin Wilcox, Bob Shoop and to an extent John Jancek... these are coaches who have all had success in other places. At this point, it's fair to say the problem wasn't them. Tennessee has invested the money into the assistant coaching staff... You could also include Sam Pittman, Ed Orgeron and Harry Hiestand as position coaches as well.Using history. We have a decade worth of garbage assistant hires to go on. Statistics would tell us that this OC hire is going to be very disappointin.

I don't care if we has applying at any other school. Still think he deserves a second chance. Nothing hypocritical at all about that.Do you want to forgive him and give him another chance because you love him as a human being and believe he has turned his life around, or because he might help Tennessee win?
Lulz. I don't really care, I just think its another form of hypocrisy.

Sorry but you are going to have to accept fact and stop thinking its excuses. We can even bring Dooley into it. 2012 class ZERO OL. What did it do for Butch? Put him way behind the 8 ball. Butch? No depth on either side of the ball. Undersized players with trash attitudes. Slow. Weak. Severley lacking the basic fundamental skills even a high school players knows. Those kind of problems just dont disappear quickly. Butch is about 65% responsible for where we are. Pruitt is about 10% and Dooley is at 35%.
Oops...Lol @ those saying 5 wins or less. If CJP only wins 4-5 this year then he needs to be fired.
My biggest surprise would be that Pruitt would consider an "Air Raid" guy, but I actually think Freeze would be great with JG. JG has the tools to play in an Air Raid offense (more likely a more run-oriented version of the Air Raid if we went that way). And two of our projected backups (Maurer, Shrout) would as well.

I wonder if Friend gets moved to OC and Weinke to QB coach and we pick up a RB coach? Hmmmmm
IT'S TIME TO STOP PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE!!! Friend may be a great OC candidate. But, my money is on KINGSBURY OR FREEZE!!! PAY THEM THE MONEY AND GET ONE OF THEM HERE NOW!!!!!!! A great PROVEN OFFENSIVE MIND to go with PRUITT would be a KEY TO SUCCESS!!!
Hmm. It’s been reported numerous times that Freeze is out of the running for that position. Sooo. Maybe Kingsbury, but apparently Maurer deleted a tweet about Kingsbury so I am going to assume he isn’t an option either.
Then a very well known insider came in and stated it is looking like “Friend” so I am just expecting after those deductions that it is going to be Will Friend.
I really hope not. I am tired of RUSSIAN ROULETTE. Friend may turn out to be a great OC. But, UT plays in the toughest conference in the NCAA, hands down. There are a TON OF GREAT D MINDS IN THE SEC. We better quit EXPERIMENTING and GET SERIOUS ABOUT WINNING. If PRUITT wants to promote his friend, he is waging his career on it. If it doesn't work, he is gone in two years!!! FULMER SAID, HE IS THE AD TO MAKE UT FOOTBALL GREAT AGAIN. A 8-4 season and no trips to Atlanta will not cut it!!! It is time to be RELEVANT AGAIN!!!
Bob Shoop was a hell of a DC, his body of work before and after his time at UT say so. Will Friend, not so muchAnd Bob Shoop is a horrible DC based on his time at UT. Might want to give Friend the benefit of the doubt after one season with mostly Butch Jones tainted players. Those guys weren't going to turn into good players overnight.
