I get that you don’t like Franks, but you can’t just throw stuff out there that isn’t true. Lost? Franks has won three straight since then, including huge wins against Miss State and LSU. He’s gone 53 of 87 (61%) for 664 yards and 3 TD’s since then. Franks’ turnaround has been incredible so far. He’s second in the league in TD passes trailing only Tua. It’s amazing what Mullen has done with him.
JG has a higher completion %...64 to 56.6
JG has a much higher yards per attempt (9 vs 7.7) meaning that he throws the ball far further upfield per each pass attempt than Franks, which makes his completion % even more impressive
JG has only thrown 2 ints in 6 games, both coming in one game vs you guys, one int which was an incredible fingertip catch 50 yards downfield by your DB. He hasn’t had a turnover in the other 5 games. Franks has 5 interceptions in 7 games, and has thrown a pick in 5 of his 7 starts
JG has a higher passer rating than Franks, 152 to 143
Franks has a lot of TD passes for sure, but he’s also attempted about 60 more passes than JG. And 5 of his TD passes came vs Charleston Southern and 3 more came vs what was a feckless TN defense when they played. Conversely, JG could easily have 9-10 td passes in one fewer game thus far, if 3 50+ yard completions early in the season that put TN in the red zone hadnt seen our WRs get tackled short of the goal line...and if our OC hasn’t chosen to run the ball over and over again from in close.
Franks is a better runner for sure, although he’s far from great there. But Guarantano is hands down better throwing from the pocket.
So, to each his own, choose who you wish....but they numbers strongly skew towards JG.
