Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

Birmingham is just right down the road only 58 miles from Tuscaloosa. So you can add 1.145M to your 99,000 In Tuscaloosa. With respect to those numbers we actually had better attendance. :good!:

The point of using the census designations was because they take into account the suburb nature of a big city population, you can't just add Birmingham in because it's not like large swaths of commuters are travelling from t-town to Birmingham five days a week for work. They are two different statistical areas and communities.

Showing up to a spring practice is the gauge for that? Lol

Showing up for a glorified practice instead of going to home depot is a pretty accurate gauge I would say, especially if you are so involved with the team to be on an online community of fans.

Funny, you've called someone an idiot in this thread and me an idiot in another thread.

Society thanks you for pitching in.

Neither he nor you have mutual exclusivity to the label. Our society is littered with them. If you watch what you say and how you behave, you might be able to shed that label

Comparing Bama to UT right now doesn’t make a lot of sense. One team just brought home another championship and the other won 4 games.

So, should we just accept our place in the sec and hope for mediocrity or should we be pushing everybody to pull together in one direction.

Did he say that the team failed because fans didnt show up? No, so this isnt an excuse just an observation, but what does he know the last two teams he coached for beat our spring game attendance.

We had the 5th largest attendance for a spring game this year. Clemson had 55k for reference. There is no need to bring up the fans unless you are using it as an excuse.

No just a different point of view. I did however pay my own way through UT in the early 70s so I guess I could point to that.

So the fan who thinks Pruitt shouldn't be calling out the fans is a sissy?

Our society has simply lost its ability to reason

Vol Nation, you rock. Every bit.

Sure, 38% of you are lazy SOBs who couldn't be bothered to come support our lads, and the other 79% are mean, judgmental perfectionists who demand too much, and the other 3% including me aren't very good at math.

But the entire nation rocks.

Go Vols!

Or, he is trying to tell 17 year old kids that Tennessee is special and the fans are special, he wants to get kids to come to Tennessee over bama and UGA, how does he do that when the fan base can't even pack the stadium for a free game, just for reference, since Kirby started at UGA, they have had some of the best spring game numbers and some of the best recruiting classes, maybe that is a coincidence, or maybe the guy that makes millions recruiting players sees it as a way to get more of the type of players he wants to come play for him. He has said since the beginning that it will take the fans helping, he is just trying to light a fire and get those fans pulling with the team, not against.

Might want to calibrate that gauge of yours.

I played golf yesterday instead of going to the meaningless spring game

I’m sure this has been answered, but how many seats are in the lower bowl?

People keep saying it looked like only 40,000 showed up, so is the lower bowl only 40,000? Because it was pretty full.

Shut your mouth and win a few. Then you can b**ch. We've been through a lot of crap as a fanbase the last decade. Maybe we want to see some real wins before we buy into the hype. Just saying.

So you are one of the slacking fans he was talking about. At least now we know why you don't like his comments, your resemble them.

NO one is pulling against the Vols.

All I can say for this post is : :birgits_giggle:

So 5th is good enough? Competitive people have to be first. We weren't. Coach called us out on it. Welcome to the new winning mentality. Sorry, no participation trophies will be handed out going forward.

No, I can promise you he wasn't talking about me, son.

I literally forgot more on my worst day about being a true VOL than you will ever know about it on your best day.

The same holds true for Coach Pruitt

Maybe you need to reassess your "fandom" if you couldn't be bothered to not go golfing when you could have been watching Tennessee football. I know myself and my 7 year old son would have loved to be able to drive the 8 hours one way to go to the game bit unfortunately I didn't have the time to go with my semester coming to an end in the next couple weeks.

dunno, i saw earlier in the thread, that iwas supposedly like 60k? i don't know that to be true.

gun to my head, i'd say there were around 50k. they dind't have turnstiles, they didn't scan tickets, so i have no idea how they'd be able to get an accurate count.

lower bowl was pretty full. that section behind home bench on the lower bowl that was roped off, was for palyer families.

i was in section x, and from where i was sitting, during the 1st half, the lower bowl was pretty full. there was a smattering of people in the upper decks, by i couldn't tell about the upper deck above me. it sounded/felt like there were more people on that side of the stadium, probably just to get out of the sun.

the vol walk was great. it was 5 deep where was, and i was down toward gate 21. chance hall stopped and spoke to a fan right next to me, friend of the famiy i think, they were on 1st name basis...big dude.

all in all, i thought it was a good day. got to see a lot of VFL's....saw Kyle alexander and grant williams in Vol Village, saw JRM and Maggit and Eric Ainge at Market Square afterward.....and there was a whole host of former players at the game, Dobbs, Kamara, Sutton among others.

it was cool. glad i went.....kids had a good time too.

only bad thing, we stayed at the Hilton, so aTm baseball team and Florida women's tennis were there. too much aggie and gator gear for my taste. had breakfast with the aTm baseball coaches though this morning.....lol.

Hey Coach,

Some free advice from somebody who's been around a long time.

1 Don't every look into the stands to see how many are there. You might miss something happening on the field that needs your attention. This is a tough league and the details are on the field, not in the bleachers.

2 Win and we will support you. Criticizing fans will not help you win. Don't forget that you make more in a month than 90% of the over 100,000 lifelong fans who'll be there at the first home game. Be respectful of those who chose to work so they might contribute to your paycheck by being able to afford to be there this Fall.
