Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

So what you are saying is you set your priorities and. And now you want to lecture others on doing the same, cool

No, im saying that if you live within an hour or so and chose to go do some menial task instead of spending a few hours supporting "your team" then you have no right to get mad about what Pruitt said because you are the type of "fan" he was talking about. Its one day I. The spring not 12 in the fall. If you have season tickets and can go to a game every other weekend for a few months then you should be able to go to a single free"game" in the spring.

Hey Coach,

Some free advice from somebody who's been around a long time.

1 Don't every look into the stands to see how many are there. You might miss something happening on the field that needs your attention. This is a tough league and the details are on the field, not in the bleachers.

2 Win and we will support you. Criticizing fans will not help you win. Don't forget that you make more in a month than 90% of the over 100,000 lifelong fans who'll be there at the first home game. Be respectful of those who chose to work so they might contribute to your paycheck by being able to afford to be there this Fall.

they dind't have turnstiles, they didn't scan tickets, so i have no idea how they'd be able to get an accurate count.

We went in one of the less-used gates, like on the back side (visiting team side) by the engineering department buildings, you know where some of the structures look like they were last maintained during WW II.

[Side note: i've never been into that side of the stadium before. It's actually a little third-worldish. As in, reminds me more of places I've been deployed to than anything else you see in the USA these days.]

There was a young lady there with one of those little number clickers. She wasn't doing anything else, just standing there watching people come in. I didn't see her hand clicking the clicker, barely noticed it as we were walking by, but I assume she was trying to keep a rough count.

I don't know if she had counterparts at all the other entry points, or not.

mine hasn't changed. he's trying to set a standard. i get it. some don't. sun still comes up tomorrow.

Of course he's trying to set a standard, good grief. All these people saying its just a meaningless glorified practice but are butthurt because Pruitt called them out on not attending.....because they've "been through so much"...are laughable.

They live close and instead of going to Neyland on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to see our new coach and staff play a little football, they go play golf. Well good, Idgaf, but don't cry when Pruitt calls you out. If you do, idiots like me are gonna laugh at you.

Lol at all of you.

Edit: Don't mean you. I know you were there. Kids enjoy it?

So how are you a fan if you only support after some wins? That sounds pretty bandwagon to me.

my guess is you are one of those that like the coaches that run up and down the sideline (or b ball court) trying to get the fans in the game - and there is nothing wrong with that. Give me a coach who doesn't care about the fans but realizes if he wins that the fans will come. Give me a coach that has the confidence to say "I will do it either way". Saban gets away with it because he has won. Pruitt has not done this yet.

Yeah Pruitt, take a look at those numbers. The fans buying the tickets that pays your largely undeserved salary are really lame, huh. Dude, you are not getting off on the right foot here.

Obviously a fan that doesn't understand how and where coach salaries come from.

That offends me.

Count me among the triggered now. This is war.

I watched the quote in context.
Dick move. Think before you speak.

He could have said it so many ways that would have sounded better.

Hell, what do expect from a Bammer.

So he should of said it they way you wanted him to,okay. Also,I take it you don't like him being from Bama. So say if he said what you wanted and was from Florida it would be ok?
Just making sure I understand.

My guess is that he hasn't thought that deeply and won't in the near future.

I don't think anyone is "mad" or "angry" at his comments.

Still, you need to explain how it is that you are the gate keeper for Vols Fandom.

No.

He could have said "I was proud to see this much support after all these folks have been through. I can't wait to see what it'll be like after we kick Alabama's tail."

How would that have sounded?

Sorry, I guess I just don't get the apathy that people like you have, I would love to live close enough to go to every spring game or event, my son and I love Tennessee football and watch any of it we can, I could never imagine being so jaded by it to go golfing instead of going to the spring game, but then again I'm the guy that listens to the radio broadcast of games while driving to my son's football games so I don't miss one. I'm also the guy that stayed up until 4 am in Iraq just to watch the 09 TN v. Bama game with a mission to prepare for in a few hours.

1. I'm a fan of this staff and think Pruitt will prove to be a successful hire.

2. I love the Vols.

3. I did not attend the spring game. I went fishing and later went on a hike with my family.

4. I watched the game on tv.

5. I think calling out the fans was stupid, but I am also a mature adult that can move past his remarks.

6. The bandwagon Vol fan doesn't exist anymore. Some of you trying to pull the fan card of others because you went to a spring game that others didn't is ridiculous. I'm glad you had a nice Saturday because I certainly did. I thought the turnout was respectable, especially given the fatigue of the fan base.

7. Go Vols!
