Official Jon Gruden thread XL

That's one of the reasons I've stayed largely silent on the subject of the Beav.

Hope he's legit, and doing work behind the scene...but that piece of info doesn't exactly line up.

I hope Beav's legit too. His idea does line up if House of Haslam was brought around to a new way of thinking, with a carrot and a stick. If the carrot is nice enough, the stick is forgotten.

I just knew I was done.

I immediately started reflecting on my recent posts to discern which one got me canned...:furious3::furious3:

I am just glad to be back, still not sure what happened back during the Fulmer Debacle. I must have hurt someones feelings. It's taken me a very long time to get back. I have learned to taste my words before I type them!

DukeSilverVol on VQ..

Confirmed that Gruden met with Currie in the past couple of days to finalize his staff.

Also DukeSilverVol confirmed that his pants are OFF and he is firmly IN on Gruden being our next coach

TIFWIW

He legit?

Also, appreciate you bringing these.

Well the last thread disappeared, but for those who asked. The whole war within the AD between the Haslams and other boosters that Beaver drives at doesn't ring true.

I heard from my limited contact that the boosters were all in line for a big hire. AV indicated this. I believe Boro did as well.

Wallace reported that Haslam allowed Gruden use of his plane to meet with coaches for staff positions.

Beaver though would have one believe there's booster war going on and that the Haslams do not want Gruden anywhere near Tennessee.

Assuming our “Boosters” have the level of control some would lead you to believe, it is possible that all could be aligned on a decision, but then still fighting for control, access and influence after the deal is done. Think of it this way:

- Haslams tight with Sexton. Butch buyout negotiated with promise Sexton clients will be considered
- Haslams on board with other Boosters for full court press on Gruden, with condition that Currie go thru motions on Sexton clients
- Gruden is signed, but Currie never speaks to any Sexton clients before signing
- Haslams feel double crossed and start attacking Currie and demanding he at least speak with a couple Sexton clients. Currie refuses
- other Boosters defend Currie and tell Haslams to stand down
- WWIII erupts among Boosters fighting for influence over Currie

Is there any historical precedence to "finalize" assembling a staff before any official announcement is made? Especially before the CFB season is over?

Who is Beaver?

In last thread it was asked if Lawrence or Fields would flip if Gruden is hired. A while back, Atlanta Vol commented that too much recruiting prowe$$ from UGA has happened with Field$ for him to change his commitment.

Dude. Just. Just. No.

Yea, well, you have your opinion and that's mine. You may not like him, cause he used to stomp all over us, but I'd pick him over most candidates to go toe to toe with Saban on the field and recruiting trail as well.

Poor guy. Hope he gets to play.

Trey Wallace on Twitter:

Brett Kendrick did not pass his “impact test” this morning. He will be in non contact jersey for practice. The Senior is hoping to play in his last game. #Vols
