I know things can change, but I thought ALL were on board? ALL the ducks were in a row? Everyone was rowing the same direction? Ergen's money trumped Haslam's? Currie is a eunich. Either get on board or get out........

Not sure what to make of Atlanta Vol's post honestly. It throws an absolute wrench in all the information brought up to this point, unless it's a smokescreen of course. lol

For those of you saying this is Haslam’s fault.

Tell me why he would be sabotaging the deal? What’s his motive?

It’s somewhat speculation, but one of Haslam’s UT kickback deals was shot down earlier this week when the outsourcing deal was nixed. There has to be lots more of those hanging around.

Atlanta also said he wouldn't be back until he knew it was done, but wouldn't tell us. Him being back may mean it's done??? Lulz, grasping at straws.

Actually I think he said even if it was 100% done you wouldn't hear it from him... Of course I mis-remember things as I get older...

The majority here are still placing the blame for the dysfunction in the wrong place..

Again, there is a power struggle but it is not amongst donors..

I know.. I know.. The MIT genius knows a guy that knows a guy

Where is the power struggle and what can we do to help shift the balance the right way?

After Beaver confirming who is behind him, and believing this is the same group that tried to come against Haslam in 2012 and were beaten by him.... and after totally understanding that Currie IS Haslam's man and was put in that position for this purpose (and believing he will not want to go against his boss but will want to be loyal) and then reading Atlanta Vols post... I have decided to lower my expectation of this so called 85% group having the ability to win... With all this in mind ... My Grud-a-meter is officially lowered to 40%

Mine is now at 5%

Big Jim wants UT to be like Virginia. He wants it to be a top academic university (relatively speaking). Thus its probably proper to assume that he doesn't care about spending money on a good coach, as long as that coach keeps the grades in line (which is what Butch does).

I don't see that it does. He even admits it could be disinformation....we've been told that would happen.

We don't know any more or less than we did....so why the meltdown?

Haslam agreed that Butch would be relieved of duties after a KY loss and he changed his mind. Haslam has always been the possible hiccup in this whole thing. My hope was that Peyton would have been influential enough to push it through.

Beaver insinuated done deal weeks ago. These people don't miss, etc.

Today, AV tells us, not only not a done deal but it may be dead.

Sorry to everyone for not being around much but there has been A LOT going on. This week has been an utter **** show....on so many levels.

Their has been hesitation internally to let butch go early due to the reputation that UT has gotten in that regard externally to the coaching community...however I think the hand may get forced on this one. And when I mean let go I mean publically let go....lets not mix that up. He is gone no doubt about that but the timing thing is really playing havoc on this whole process make no mistake about that.

I was delivered either an incredible smokescreen yesterday or something that tells me there is trouble in paradise on the gruden front (lets say it went along the lines of currie reached out to xyz coach to gauge interest what are your thoughts... I won't name the coach as I don't want to throw gas on that log) . I can't tell which yet but I have been on the phone all morning with one of the larger boosters (in ktown) discussing our wonderful browns owner who literally could screw up anything he gets involved in so that tells me all I need to know on that front. Now take all of that and couple it with the next important piece of info.

I was then informed early today of a meeting that will take place that I am supposed to attend (can't give timeline out) that will be about a very large donation opportunity for some folks in attendance. Now I can't imagine in my right mind that they would approach anyone about a meeting like that unless there was something extremely positive was going to happen.

I think the band is about the start playing...the biggest question will be is it who we want playing or not.

AV, you folks have to stand your ground. If the AD has a second rate hire or lets one booster call all the shots, tell them to put their "opportunity" in a Neyland Stadium urinal.
