Will this finally settle the Manning - Brady debate?

Man, this thread escalated quickly.

Good times....good times indeed.

Yup same way the mere mention spurrier, urban and muschamp ignites violence. Ha actually I like and respect spurrier. Not so much the other two. Most of our anger about you guys is directed at our own idiot coaches for blowing so many games.

Brady or Manning will never be “settled”. People love or hate one or the other. I think it is more about likability. If my daughter brought these two guys home I would prefer Manning because he seems warmer and more fun and more likely to raise my grandchildren with care. I would say Brady might be somewhat more successful on the material side but Manning would be more than sufficient.

LOL OK! Damn thats funny.

I love Manning but there’s no debate. Brady has shown he’s the man....done it for years with inferior talent at WR and RB. Manning definitely had more arm talent but Brady played the same conference and has more than twice the SB wins

His wife also just coincidentally happened to have HGH delivered to their house, and Peyton's forehead just happened to get bigger that year, which is a whole lot closer to real cheating than anything Brady ever did.

Manning NEVER failed a drug test.
Officially cleared by NFL.
Brady adjudicated cheater/obstructor and suspended by the NFL.

Manning 3-1 v Brady in Championship Games.

There’s never been a consistently more clutch QB than Brady. Peyton had quite a few moments where he choked at the last minute costing himself a win in a big game. If a team is down with one minute left on the clock and 80 yards to go, I’d give it to Brady every time because he almost always finds a way to win in that situation.

I think Peyton probably has the superior football mind/knowledge, but my guess is that has been a hinderance at times and he would over analyze plays causing him to second guess situations which then result in him turning the ball over.

You can still appreciate Peyton for the talent that he was without comparing him to Tom Brady. Brady is the GOAT. You're in deep denial if you can't see that. I don't understand why so many people spend time and energy hating him. If you love football, just sit down, shut up, and enjoy watching a guy that has already had (at least) two Hall of Fame careers.

If Brady and Manning changed teams would they still have the same number of Championships.
Manning entire career under same team and same coach
Brady, Indianapolis Colts then Denver Broncos
Never know both great careers but fun to wonder.

Have Brady and Belichick cheated in any way they could get away with? Absolutely. They have been caught multiple times. But most people who win this much are so driven to win that they will find every imaginable advantage. In their minds, allowing their team to lose is more of an ethical shortcoming than messing with your equipment, spying on the other team, etc.

Someday we are going to find out about everything they've gotten away with that we don't know now and that is when this debate will get interesting.

Do you really think Brady has been as successful as he has because he's gotten to throw under-inflated footballs his entire career?

IMO, the Spygate thing was more egregious, even though videotaping opposing coaches is legal (from a designated area, which the Pats weren't doing) and I'm assuming all other teams do what the Patriots did.

Belichick's won 2 SBs and made it to 2 others since Spygate, so clearly it has negatively impacted their success.

Yeah ask around Indianapolis and you might change your mind.

You realise the Colts "cheated" too right? Only 4 of their balls were tested, AFTER the Pats' 12 balls were tested (meaning they sat in the warm locker room the whole time) and 3 of them were under-inflated too. Actually probably 4 because they messed up writing down the 4th. On top of that after the game, all of the Pats' balls were properly inflated and yet the same 3 Colts balls were still under-inflated.

But I guess sticking with the narrative that Chris Mortensen started with his initial reporting (that was proven false) is easier since you're clearly biased.

Deflategate was perhaps the dumbest sports "scandal" of all time, and it only became the thing it did because it erupted after the AFCCG, allowing the media to talk about it incessantly for 2 weeks right up until the Super Bowl. A lot of casual football fans who watch only a game or two a year heard about it. If that same thing happened in Week 4, or in the preseason, it is something fans would remember but would have never become the huge deal it did.

Everyone is focused on the colts game. That had no impact. However since Brady got busted for that game it’s likely to assume that he had been deflating balls for a long time and that it did have an impact on other games. I also believe there were games early in his career where he knew exactly what the defense was going to call do to stealing their signals. There will never be 100% agreement in his legacy due to questionable activities.

Nope. Manning would have more rings with New England and Brady likely wouldn’t have any with the colts and Broncos.

LOL. I'm a Patriots fan and would say that Brady is the greatest. I just don't have blinders on that he and Belichick don't blur the lines at times to get any edge they can. There will be someone who knows all the dirt who will come forward at some point.

I frankly respect their craftiness and love this sort of stuff. As long as you aren't physically hurting yourself or your opponent or breaking any real world laws, then get every advantage you can get away with. If you get caught and still hang the title banners, all the better.

One of my all time favorites:

When the Celtics beat a far more talented Laker team in 1984, with an aging Kareem still the crux of the roster, they let the temperatures in the Boston Garden soar into the 100s. The Lakers locker room was even hotter than out on the parquet somehow and the Lakers complained to the league who in turn pressured Red Auerbach to put an air conditioner in the Lakers locker room. Auerbach gladly complied with the letter of the request but not the spirit. When Pat Riley walked into the sweltering locker room for the next game there was indeed a large air conditioning unit. Sitting in the middle of the locker room. On the floor. Not only was it not hooked up in any way, it was still in the box.
