What are our insiders hearing?

For the sake of the current offensive roster (Specifically the QB and WR's), I would take Cut right now. Literally has the best track record of developing QB's in the SEC right now.

Would be the best thing that could happen to JG and QD.... Cut isn't scared to run two QB systems and he usually makes them work when he has the talent....

I would take Cut as an OC. But there is no way he leaves a HC position for an OC IMO. As a HC though? No thanks.

Lol at comparing the Pac12 to the SEC.
You are aware that, not counting Alabama, that the other 13 SEC schools played 13 games against the other Power 5 Conferences this year? The record of the great SEC was 5-8. 2 of the 5 wins were in OT or 2 OT's. U.T. had one of the wins against Va. Tech. I wouldn't want a rematch.

The SEC West was 2-3:

LSU lost to Wisc
Ole Miss lost to Fl. St.
Auburn lost to Clemson
Ark. beat TCU in 2 OT
A&M beat UCLA in OT.

The SEC East was 3-5:

Fl. lost to Fl. St
Georgia lost to Ga. Tech
Missouri lost to WVU
S.C. lost to Clemson
Vandy lost to Ga. Tech
U.T. beat Va. Tech
Ga. beat UNC
Ky. beat Louisville

It looks to me like 3 ACC schools went 2-0 against the SEC: Ga. Tech, Clemson, and Fl. St. Outside of Alabama, the SEC is mediocre.

H*** No! It would have been a good move after Kiffin left us to calm the ship but at this point we don't need another 8 win coach.

Cut wins 11 games with this team this year.

He's miles ahead of Butch. He is at Duke because they have no expectations and he has no stress.

Every team in the SEC has at least 3 loses except Bama. Actually Vandy right now is probably the second best team in the East. The real experts understand what happened to Tenn with all its defense scuttled by injuries. The Vols can fix it all with a nice bowl win over someone in the Music City or Liberty bowls.

But can we beat another bowl-eligible team with our defense? I don't think we will be getting any DTs back before then and the staff has shown poor ability to coach up the "next men up".

Normally I'd be right there with you but last night was the last straw. He's not taking us anywhere other than 8 to 9 wins. Only hope of him succeeding is if UT breaks the bank hiring assistants. Now, saying that what from our previous history would make you think we are willing to do this? Hard to put together a lame duck all star staff.

Honest question: How many times has hiring an assistant turned this program around?

I feared we'd be a consistent 8-9 win team under CBJ. Obviously better than the 5 or 6 win years but not good enough.

What I didn't expect was those 8 or 9 win years would include losses to the likes of SC and Vandy. Figured we'd lose 3-4 to teams like Bama, UF, UGA and whoever we play from the SECW like A&M, Auburn or LSU.

Since we beat UF and UGA this year it should've easily been a 10 win season. But I guess I even underestimated the Butch effect.

You should coin that phrase (the Butch effect).

I've tried to read this entire thread... really tried. The best I got was from the poster, after reading 1456 messages, "This thread is a waste of time!" I've got to stop and get ready for church or I'd have at least finished it all.

And, ya'll, that is an insight into all of us writing, opining and complaining. It won't change anything. But I understand why we do it.

While at church, please pray for UT and VN.

From everything I've heard it's Blackburn. Too many of the right people want him.

The AD is extremely important at this point and he has the ability to pull everything together to fix it.

Not if the powers won't spend the money. UT will not put the dollars out to get a Saban. Hiring anybody that is not proven is a waste of time and might as well stay with the bum we have now.

Dabo hired great coordinators and now is in the national title picture 2 years in a row

Yep - hire the right ones and the HC looks really good even when they are not. Hire the wrong ones and the HC looks really really bad even when they are not.

For the HC, the key is to hire the right folks at these positions as they are the ones that are typically calling the shots on game day.

Anyone who has ever managed folks know that as a manager it is the folks you mange that make you look good or bad. And as a manager you are the one that takes the heat when those you manage don't do well.

Exactly how many Sabans are out there?
