What are our insiders hearing?

Sometimes it is necessary to hire in people who arent the saints we want. Sometimes a sinner can get the job done better. Other times, those who have made mistakes need an opportunity at redemption.

Nope, 8-4 > Art Briles, luckily the folks at UT are not that stupid.

Start watching Jimmy Sexton very closely after UT loses their 4th game next year. Somewhere in the mid-to-late October time frame.

Blackburn will deliver. The money will be there next time.

Go Vols.

From everything I've heard it's Blackburn. Too many of the right people want him.

The AD is extremely important at this point and he has the ability to pull everything together to fix it.

My fear is Blackburn makes too much sense, has a love for the institution due to a personal connection, therefore, has zero chance. With a new chancellor, best qualified type for the job with a degree out of Michigan, we're going to get a Son of Hart, either a former failed AD at another program or an up and coming Assistant AD out of a "winning program" like Bama, Michigan, or Ohio State. We have people in power that are biased against UT grads, none can be "best qualified" in their eyes and UT as an institution recently has shown disdain for hiring their own. If it's not Blackburn, we'll get Hart II and Jones II and 4/5 years later we'll cycle through another one. It's about keeping Neyland full of people and buying gear to the Hart AD types IMO. Winning just enough to keep butts in seats is what is all about, they could give a rats axx whether UT ever plays for natties again IMO.

Not for everyone

Well those people suck. You honestly want to hire a guy that did nothing and defended his players that raped / sexually assualted women? At a university that just settled a title 9 lawsuit?

You sound like the Penn St faithful that defended JoePa, disgusting.

But again not worth debating the people in charge are not that flippin stupid, Thank God.

Butch and Bob don't get along. Bob thinks Butch is an idiot.

Butch is the same way with his players as he is behind a mic. Speaks in cliques, etc. the older players don't listen to him anymore, kinda make fun of him. This is why our teams personality has changed so much.

I had this thought last night, that maybe these two weren't meshing.

If, and this is a big if, Butch is putting out "feelers," and some school takes the bait, wouldn't they have to buy out his contact from us? So in essence they would have to pay us 10 million to take him? For this reason alone, he's not going anywhere.

Unless there's a way we say don't worry about the buyout and just take him. - Please.

No. his buyout if he leaves for another job is 4 million.

No head coaching change will or should come until we get a new AD in place (unless Butch pulls a Cuonzo and leaves on his own). No coordinator worth 2 cents will come in to join a sinking ship, DeBord and Shoop are it, and we just have to hope they step it up next year. The offense really hasn't been the problem in most games, and Shoop's defense cannot get worse. There might be some position coach changes. That's what we are looking at. Next year the Big 3 are coaching for their jobs, and they'll probably need to win the East to do it. I don't expect them to, because it seems clear he's lost the fan base and likely his players as well, but I hope to be surprised.

Wow. Such emotion and anger. Briles isnt coming here. My point was refuting the notion that people who have made.mistakes shouldnt be considered.

If Butch bolts, I know for a fact that Coach Fulmer will have input on the new hire. Wouldn't be surprised if Peyton did too.

JAV, think he bolts for another job...even if it's a downgrade?
Yes. Not sure where he would go but he's got the look and sound of a man who's ready to get out. I wouldn't rule out a move to any power 5 school. I'm not sure Houston wants a Butch type coach. That job takes a different personality than the one possessed by Butch to be successful.
That would be awesome if he left

Blackburn won't be fooled by this lingoistic, stubborn fraud. Clean house. Hire Cutcliffe. Bring back the Chief. Go out and get the best strength coach in the country. Win again.

3rd and Chavis? Why, do you want him here to give away what wins we had? I tried to warn A&M about him but they had to see for themselves. Go to texags.com and see what they think now.

Absolute worst case scenario is the CBJ leaves and we get Les Miles. Not a bad deal IMO.

No worst case is we are stuck with butch another 2 years which is very possible with our idiot administration
