What are our insiders hearing?

Every team in the SEC has at least 3 loses except Bama. Actually Vandy right now is probably the second best team in the East. The real experts understand what happened to Tenn with all its defense scuttled by injuries. The Vols can fix it all with a nice bowl win over someone in the Music City or Liberty bowls.

Normally I'd be right there with you but last night was the last straw. He's not taking us anywhere other than 8 to 9 wins. Only hope of him succeeding is if UT breaks the bank hiring assistants. Now, saying that what from our previous history would make you think we are willing to do this? Hard to put together a lame duck all star staff.

Are there still people that actually still believe that crap?

I feared we'd be a consistent 8-9 win team under CBJ. Obviously better than the 5 or 6 win years but not good enough.

What I didn't expect was those 8 or 9 win years would include losses to the likes of SC and Vandy. Figured we'd lose 3-4 to teams like Bama, UF, UGA and whoever we play from the SECW like A&M, Auburn or LSU.

Since we beat UF and UGA this year it should've easily been a 10 win season. But I guess I even underestimated the Butch effect.

How many can say they lost to both vandy and South Carolina this year? Time for ol boy to go!!

This is probably the most disappointed I've been in the team in my 50+ years as a fan. Very sad to see our once great program reduced to this.

Agree, for me it's 30+ years. Nothing to look forward to either with Butch at the helm. He's just not a good coach.

Only chance jones leaves if fans start to think winning is more impotant than tailgating and party. I just don't see it happening. Jones stays. He may fire the janitors but none of his posse.

If they were smart they would just all set outside the stadium and watch on tv. Dont give $ to the program

Staff changes rarely save a coach. Only delay the inevitable.

Staff changes occur all the time. With each change there is a 50/50 chance with better or worse success.

And with a new coach - you get new staff that may or may not work out.

What proven coaches/coordinators are going to jump on a sinking ship only to be looking for a new job the following year?

If there is major staff overhaul then this is going to end just like Dooley!

Can Lyle's ass YESTERDAY!!!

Great Assistants are not coming to a coach on the hot seat.

If, and this is a big if, Butch is putting out "feelers," and some school takes the bait, wouldn't they have to buy out his contact from us? So in essence they would have to pay us 10 million to take him? For this reason alone, he's not going anywhere.

Unless there's a way we say don't worry about the buyout and just take him. - Please.

Would there be a school named Waste Management?

Atlanta Vol made some interesting comments, said that we've got a coaching search "committee" in place, in which CPF is a very active participant. Also said he believes Butch is gone in 2 years.

The unfortunate inference there is that Butch is here for 2 more years.

I'm not jumping on the messenger here, and siap, but in two years we could be Mizzou bad. That's been the problem all along is that UT Admin. waits too long.

I saw in his press conference Ed Orgeron say he was going to assemble the best staff in America. Sorry Ed, that staff is already in Knoxville and they lose to South Carolina and Vandy in the same year.

If someone told me a year ago we would beat Uga and UF next season
but lose to SoCa and Vandy I wouldn't have wasted the breath to laugh.

Blackburn won't be fooled by this lingoistic, stubborn fraud. Clean house. Hire Cutcliffe. Bring back the Chief. Go out and get the best strength coach in the country. Win again.

Ooohhh I like the sound of that actually. Albeit, I would be surprised if that ever happened. Maybe they ask Cutcliff and Chavis who they would want as assistants in a couple years and go ahead and hire them and Butch either quits or finds a suitable job for him and his staff over the next year and it goes smoothly for everyone. Personally, I wanted Butch to succeed and who knows maybe he will surprise us next year and our healthy team will crush it. Has anyone thought of this? I know it won't be popular... but do you think they would consider making Debord the interim HC if Butch walks or leaves in a year? I ask this with a biiiiigggg griiiinnn hahaha... KABOOM goes the board.... ready... set... tell me how stupid I am for bringing it up!!!

I've tried to read this entire thread... really tried. The best I got was from the poster, after reading 1456 messages, "This thread is a waste of time!" I've got to stop and get ready for church or I'd have at least finished it all.

And, ya'll, that is an insight into all of us writing, opining and complaining. It won't change anything. But I understand why we do it.

Stop there is no spinning this into a positive. The real experts are mocking Butch Jones in the national media right now, he's leaving.

People cannot be serious with the Cutcliffe stuff. He would be a terrible hire. He doesn't recruit. Too old. Might as well bring Fulmer back.

He is a good coach, but you cannot win, especially at UT where there is a lack of in-state talent, with a head coach that cannot recruit.
