Fair weather fans are pussies! Shut the **** up and go be a Georgia fan or an Alabama fan or whoever. I don't give a ****. No wonder the whole world looks at us like idiots. I'm willing to get kicked off this site defending the team I love, The Tennessee Volunteers to pathetic people that call themselves fans. Damn, I hate stupid people. The Vols will rise again! I love my team! GBO! Go Vols!
Solid 1st post. Great only post.

Yes, I do bark, but I probably spend as much time on this site as any Vol fan. My son graduated from UT, so I’m very familiar with this site, with Knoxville, and with Vol fans in general.

I was hoping the ones that feel this way will respond to a genuine question. Trying to understand what makes them tick? No disrespect intended.
I saw where posters are tired of the same threads, so here is one y’all can rally around; maybe.

I keep reading where some fans are expecting the ship to turn around in the next two years and the Vols will be competing for the East. Looking at the level of recruiting that UGA is accomplishing, how can you possibly feel that UT is closing the gap? It looks like the gap is getting wider. Is it based on faith in Pruitt’s evaluation skills? What say you?

Why don't you focus on Georgia's fake punts and quit asking juvenile questions on this site. "Stupid question is as stupid question does". Why would anyone rally around that. We think that with better recruiting and better coaching we will achieve better results and have a better team. Hummm ……. it's magic.

It’s just blind hope. There’s nothing to support it.

If we’re to climb out of this mess we have to get purely lucky with recruits and our google coaches.
"google coaches" aint gonna be the jam on the bread.

Vols cannot afford even ONE more mistake of any kind.

There is this silly narrative that every good coach turns a program around by year 3. So that means if Pruitt hasnt turned us around by year 3, then we should start looking for another coach because he isnt the guy. At TN, our fan base has a terrible disease called living in the pastitis. Many still believe that we are that same program that once called winning 9-10 games a year down years. The same program that would look at the schedule and circle Vandy, UK, SC, Missouri and Bama as automatic wins. A program loaded with talent that could dominate on both lines of scrimmage. Many think that we should be able to turn things around quickly because of nothing mire than our name. Its ridiculous.

The reality is Pruitt is going to need at the very least 4 years. Many fans dont want to hear it but we are in the beginning of a rebuild. Yeah it sucks but its fact. The past 2 head coaches at TN have absolutely driven this program into the ditch. We are nowhere close to competeing for the East. I think it will be year 5 before we will begin to think about that. And even then it may not be possible with UGA. Georgia may go on an SECE run like we have never seen before. They will easily win it next year as well.

Were you living in the past when you made this statement?

Lol @ those saying 5 wins or less. If CJP only wins 4-5 this year then he needs to be fired.

Curious, what brought you into the present?

It's a sliding scale, we have all become too weak in the verbiage used in our posting and this has caused a direct decline in our football program. This is a call to arms, everyone needs to get much more belligerent around here if we are to make Tennessee great again. Lock him (Haslem) up! Lock him (Botch) up! Lock him (Saban) up!

I honestly did not expect the players to not buy into to Pruitt and his staff. As evident by some prominent players have said. Not Pruitts fault.

Jones never brought the players we needed to compete in the sec. He recruit highly ranked players from places outside the sec. where a 4 is more like a FL 3, then failed to strengthen or develop them. We are less talented then ky and candy. The results on the field show it and a good coach can see it. I am not saying all are kids are junk, but we do need many upgrades.

Our talent is so far down I think we may be having trouble hiring and retaining coaches. Would you take on the oc job knowing you won’t have an olline until year after next? Crossing my fingers our new oc has a name we recognize. If so credit our AD and Pruitt for doing what it takes.

Our dL is in the same boat.

Forget about beating the best teams for 4-5 years. Unless we get really lucky.

I hope he gets as much time as he needs as long as there is reasonable progress.

Well, we have lost three heart breakers to Bama in the last few years. They are tough to beat when you have their full attention. We either have to have better players, Saban leaves, or somehow Saban gets passed by his longtime understudy.

You're never going to have "better" players. You might have comparable players that give you a competitive chance, but no team in America is ever going to be able to just line up and out-athlete Alabama while Saban is there.

The biggest hurdle IMO to beating Bama is the psychological advantage they hold on everyone. They KNOW they're going to win and most of the time, the opposing teams know they're going to lose despite how much false confidence they try to project.

Most fans really don't understand Football or what it takes to build a program. A lot of people think that if you're a good coach you automatically win not taking in consideration that often times players just don't get it done.
Some seem to think time and only time is necessary. Just because three years pass, there is no reason to expect results to improve at all. Large numbers of great players have to come play for excellent coaches. Tennessee has none of those on the horizon.

Every good coach wins by year three and it's not a silly narrative. It's a simple fact. If they aren't improving the program rapidly by then, they unlikely to ever get it going and are almost assuredly never going to contend for titles. Also despite the protestations that have cropped up lately, the program was left better by Butch than by Dooley. If Butch, being generally incompetent can get the team to 9 wins in year three after taking over the disaster he did. Pruitt should easily be in the 9-10 win range by year three if he's remotely competent,

With our record over the last decade, any "Fair weather fans" would have quit a long time ago. How many fans do you think Bama would have if they had our record? I bet quite a bit fewer than us currently. Hell our fans should be canonized.

Based on his first year I don't expect Pruitt to turn it around in three years. As a head coach he seems so far behind the other coaches in the league. Lost or ran off his OC the first year and can't hire a replacement. If he doesn't kill it this first real recruiting class for him then there is cause for concern. Yeah I hear commitments from players but not counting the chickens until signing day. Still don't know if he can sign top offensive talent without an OC and that is where we were the weakest last year.
