We won’t be..

Kudos to Heupel on swiping this guy, but it still has to be consistent through the program. Is it going to stop UT from finishing as one of the most penalized teams? Is it going to shift the time of possession? Turnovers? Cignetti values those three things and they literally don’t cross Josh’s mind.
Heupel has been excellent with us having a low number of turnovers on offense. The only qb that had issues with turnovers was Joey Aguilar. I think anyone would give him a pass for coming in at the last second. That Brett Favre gunslinger mentality will never go away. We have been one of the best at not turning the ball over often on O. Hendon hooker had 5 total ints in 2 years. Joe Milton had 5 ints in his starting season. Fernando Mendoza had 6 ints this past season at Indiana. Heupel has had at least a +4 positive turnover margin with Tennessee every year.

Silly. We gave up so many 6,7,8 minute drives which directly affects TOP and the offense/ sideline that he fired the DC and brought one in who won a title 2 years ago while kicking our ass along the way.
Saying it doesn’t cross his mind is emotional and ignorant.
How does this affect his offense or strategy on the offensive side of the ball?? I’ll wager you he continues to run the gimmick offense, get lots of penalties and suck at TOp.

Offense last year wasn’t hurry up gimmick and quite different from years prior.
It also affects the entire offense when the whole team feels like you need to score a td on every possession instead of playing freely.

It should help a little with penalties. With better conditioning guys can stay focused longer. In football, when dudes start to get tired the first thing that goes out the window is technique and basic fundamentals. Time of possession will always be unbalanced with the system we run but it doesn’t have to be as bad as it’s been. Knowles simply has to get off the field on 3rd down. Banks consistently didn’t. I’m not really sure what u mean when it comes to turnovers. That’s mostly luck of the bounce and usually changes dramatically year to year.

Serious question. Do you think Indiana’s turnover rate was just luck?

Never said turnovers are all lucky but they do require some luck. You can keep int’s down if u have an accurate QB who doesn’t put the ball in harms way. Fumbles on the other hand require luck of the bounce. IU actually fumbled the ball 18 times over the last 2 seasons but only lost 4 of them. Turnovers are a stat that u can’t necessarily hang your hat on because there are too many variables. Yes u can emphasize protecting the ball and attacking the ball but if u could completely coach it out of your players, nobody would ever turn the ball over.
