Still no mention of the COACH that can walk on the water and save us. That is because there is NONE. We have to give Pruitt a chance. If he hasn't turned things around by the end of his contract he will at the very least have us with the size and speed we need for the next coach to take over. I never said it was a given we would lose ANY game. We made too many mistakes and had too many costly penalties to win. We are not good enough yet to over come that. I know, I know you will blame all that on Pruitt. I have played a lot of sports in my life. Sometimes I was to fired up and jumped offsides, sometimes I got pissed and got a flag thrown on me. It was my fault not my coaches. EVERYTHING that happens on the field is not on the coach. Most of the time it falls on the players. Oh and before anyone says it. I never had to have a coach get me ready to play on game day. I took it as a personnel insult for someone to put a uniform other than the one I had one. They were telling me they thought they we better than I was. If a coach has to pep you up on game day you are in the wrong sport. JMHOSeason 2 isn't "overnight" and Dooley and Jones beat the Georgia St.'s on their schedule with bad rosters. Stop acting like that was some given that we'd lose that game, not one damn person on this site before that game had ANY thought that the game would even be remotely close, much less a loss. If you think beating Georgia St. and BYU are "walking on water", then I suggest you give up watching football and find something else that you understand a bit more.
I saw Improvement tonight, we just didn't have enough mules. Pruitt is going to build us a team. I like what I saw and the potential for down the road.

See he would NEVER do here. He is one of those you have to Google to see who he is. This fan base wants a PROVEN D1 coach with SEC experience that can WALK ON WATER. Because if he cant pull miracles out of his butt he is not the guy for the job.Well, not to digress into a "who's next?" discussion, but what the heck? Jim Calhoun from Air Force.
Honestly I don't believe Butch would have survived regardless, there's alot that went on behind the scenes, one instance I'll share I was actually at practice when it happened a couple of players (won't name names) actually walked off the field throwing helmets and all after refusing to run a drill that was an early week practice then come game day they would be in the starting lineup. The Tuttle fell on a helmet story was completely fabricated it was the result of the divided locker room. Butch wasn't a bad guy he wasn't as knowledgeable about the game as Pruitt is imo, but he could relate to this generation of recruits better than Pruitt can. Pruitt is really good at developing players it may not seem like it right now but he really is, he reminds me of a coach that will be able to get more out of less talented players. However I think Pruitt's demise may be his unwillingness to let go of certain things that and his style of coaching is more in your face and unfortunately this generation tends to get pouty when criticized and instead of being motivated by it they quit. Butch allowed this to happen under his watch so I think that's why there is a big difference in the guys pruitt brought in compared to the players left over from Butch. Watching practice and being around some it is a totally different feeling from when I was there even still. I don't feel the players respect the coaching staff like we did Fulmer and company and that's a problemThanks for your response. I can assure you I was not being sarcastic. Probably not very good at explaining but that is also the problem with using a keyboard to communicate vs face to face.
Do you think Jones could have survived as coach if he had not split the locker room, and do you think the 25 yearly limit is going to hamstring Pruitt from ever getting enough talent during a 3 or 4 yr period to compete?
Whether we do or not, we gotta give him some time

And I apologize for accusing you of being sarcastic, there's alot of that on here though. It's funny at the Florida game we had our VFL day we walked with the guys through the vol walk and talked to fans, took pictures had a great time, but then I get on here just trying to give a little different perspective and am met with alot of disrespectful comments and folks that just want to argue. I'm no better than anyone on here and don't try to act as if I am at the end of the day we're all the same.....Vol fans. Thanks for your response. I can assure you I was not being sarcastic. Im aware. They also neglected recruiting and development of players. They gave Butch more time. They gave Dooley more time. Not saying Pruitt doesn't need the same consideration, but how did that work out? Oh yes, they were idiots you might point out. But the reason we can't get the right guy? We have a bad history of insuring success. We have a poorly disciplined culture. That is why our first choices say, "No, thanks."
