At best, because it’s only 17 games he gets a grade of incomplete.
But, people need to step back and really take stock of this. Someone used to joke about Butch or Dooley that they set the bar so low so that they could claim improvement when they went 7-5.
That’s exactly what’s happened here. The bar is so low because of losing to Georgia State, etc., that there are people really excited about last nights game
The team played hard and people are thrilled they actually played hard when that should be a given.
They had a good quarter and everyone is choosing to ignore that they were thoroughly dominated in every phase of the game at home.
Again, there were positives last night. There were.
But, using this as proof that you found the right guy....I don’t get it. Sorry.

It's NOT that we played hard....you're right, that should be a given.
It's that
we played well for all but a couple of minutes and a few big plays in the first half against the #3 team in the land.
Once again---
the talent gap between UGA and us is the widest I've ever seen--and that includes the '81 Vols who lost 44-6 to UGA.
Examine UGA's explosive plays in the first half and realize that it's NOT COACHING, but players who FAILED in their assignments.
1. Long pass to Swift was a busted coverage by #20 Thompson who failed to cover him out of the backfield down the sideline.
However, Fromm may never have found Swift if our DL was able to get any pressure on him at all.
UGA's OL is just way better in pass protection than us. Once again--our OLB, #19 Taylor was a non-factor last night when he had 3 sacks against UGA last year. He's a ghost who is missing in action this year.
That situation is only fixed thru recruiting--and CJP did land #27 Crouch who is a true FR OLB and will get better in pressuring the QB.
2. UGA's 41 yd run by #35 exposes the talent gap once again. BITULI--our 5th year SR. LB is NOT a SEC caliber ILB....he cannot get off of blocks and play his position. And that long run exposes him for that FACT. Just watch the film. Every player on the DL on that play does his job except for Bituli--who's single job was to fill the hole in the middle of the DL. Another product of UGA's superior talent overcoming our LACK of talent at ILB.
3. Swift's long run on a draw with the score 20-14 after we miss a FG is another example of Bituli's piss-poor talent and performance.
Bituli's first 2 steps are back--when they should be forward until the QB drops back past the RB. Then he comes flying up to stop the runner for what should've been a 5 yard gain and completely whiffs on the tackle. Bituli was untouched and unimpeded and came up out of control and one shake of Swift's head left him tackling air. Bituli just had a completely horrible game last night.
4. Another Bituli bust (or
possibly could've been #2 Taylor's bust) at end of 1st half when UGA's #15 ran into the middle of our D WIDE OPEN, caught a pass, and ran it down inside the 10 yd line. Bituli did run with the TE on that play--so it may have been #2 Taylor's busted coverage. Everyone else had their man covered and we have a catastrophic failure by one of those 2 guys....that's NOT coaching....that's on the players.
Many on here are gonna blast me for what I've said about Bituli--but he had an absolutely TERRIBLE game last night.
The big eye just don't lie...and Bituli absolutely sucked on the field as what we used to call the weak sister.
And UGA exploited him at every opportunity.
We lack a good pass rushing DE--we just don't have one; another example of the talent gap.
You and I had a discussion before the season began and you acknowledged our lack of talent on this team.
I think you actually were trying to be kind by refusing to offer up a prediction on our season--because you knew how bad we are.
So now you show up and IMO are talking out of both sides of your mouth.
And every now and again you show up on here after Florida wins a big game with a condescending attitude
because I think you cannot pass up an opportunity to throw a veiled insult at we pathetic VOLS.
