He is being investigated for rape, and the rape kit is negative. They need to clear his name, pronto. They haven't charged him in 4+ months. There is no other evidence at this point. If it were, he would've been charged already. What backlash would there be for clearing the name of an individual that's not charged.

Good point.

My concern is over the defense sharing medical records with the University. As an attorney, I wouldn't do that absent written consent from the alleged Victim or her attorney, or unless the University had subpoenaed the records (that is if the University's judicial board has subpoena power, which I kind of doubt).

Perhaps Von's attorney simply "told" the University that the results came back negative, rather than actually sharing the physical medical results.

There has to be more information here that is not being discussed. I wonder if there was some kind of intermediary that was involved that could implicate either the university or athletic department. That would make for a very tense situation all around.

There is absolutely no precedent for suspending someone from a public institution for a legal investigation in which there is no physical evidence. Getting reinstated to the football team is another matter. Hopefully the DA will make a decision soon with all the information they have.

It's like some want to find a way for Pearson to be ineligible, good grief the woman changed her story the rape kit was negative. I guess they are scared of the feds to let him play even if he is innocent. Nobody wants someone playing that is guilty of rape on the other hand I don't want some womans false accusations and lies keeping a man out of going to school and playing ball just for the politically correctness of the world today. Someone is dragging this way way to far. Make the CALL! GBO!

I can be more than rape. I can be sexual assault which a rape kit can have nothing to do with.

I have seen some on here mention sexual battery as being a possible charge, but then again this entire thing is pretty ridiculous considering there have been no charges made from the get go. Regardless of what comes out of it, even though I truly believe that he has done nothing wrong, Von's name will be affected in a negative way. It sucks.

Then the allegations would be incorrect to begin with. That's like me trying to lie on my brother when I was little to get him in trouble, only to backtrack my story or toning it down a notch just because....well he was a better liar than me:unsure:

Butch needs to start putting pressure on the University at this point to reinstate Von. It seems to now be clear that this chick was full of it. Get him back out there! I want to see him leaving defenders grasping for air this fall in Gainesville!

I want him back as much as the next guy, but ^^^ is precisely the reason it's dragged on so long, so the school isn't pressured into a compromising situation.

(example: FSU)

It really sucks for Von and fans when it seems like he should be cleared, and my opinion is that he should be cleared if relevant information is complete and does not prove guilt. However, it must be done right.

I'd just like to see justice served, whether that results in charges being brought or not. Some things are more important than football

Yep considering she is accusing him of rape and the rape kit comes back negative then it should destroy her credibility in a he said/she said situation especially when VP has people backing his story. So she can't just go back and say well maybe it wasn't rape but he did this. Likely to just end up being a scorned drunk girl

I still side very strongly on the side of police and "authority" over thug ass thieves and drug dealers, especially in light of the Ferguson cop who was vindicated ....if the Baltimore cops are given a fair trial, I suspect they will be as well

According to Hyams this is incorrect. He just mentioned that the DA states this case is still under investigation. UT should not be making a decision until the DA has completely processed the case. The problem remains with the legal system and not the university.

There is a way to make this simpler for you. Just assume Von will not be playing this season until you hear differently.
