Von Pearson Update

This isn't the official summer roster. Assistant AD Jason Yellin said it will be updated Monday with all the summer enrollees.

Pearson will almost certainly be on it, but it won't mean anything in regards to his status.

He won't be dropped from the roster unless charges are filed and Butch actually dismisses him from the team.

That said, I think it's only a matter of time until he's "officially" reinstated. They might wait until July to do it, though.

VP took his exams.

Had a good GPA going into those exams.

VP is a witness in the AJ matter.

Same prosecutor.

fwiw.

Is that good or bad for him?

No one is in hurry, the school, the prosecutor...both investigating, but not in a hurry.

School wants to avoid a lawsuit, prosecutor wants to win the more high profile of the two, or at least the one with the more believable witness.

Done, can't say more.

I'm not trying to dispute you by any means, but with 98 days until football season I have a hard time believing someone, somewhere involved in this case isn't in a hurry.

VP was not arrested.

He has not been charged.

His apartment, last I read, has not been searched or any items seized either by campus police or KPD. Which is different from the AJ case, right?

He's been suspended from campus, unsuspended to take exams and resuspended immediately after. By the University, not the football coach.

Is that good or bad for him?

A lawyer could technically argue he's not a credible witness since he's been accused of rape himself in a completely different incident.

If VP is cleared though and they intend on using him as testimony to the AJ case wouldn't it behoove them to wrap it up well before August when AJ's case is set?

I think vol66 was implying that the prosecutor is in no hurry to clear Von because keeping his investigation open is a good way to get him to help the prosecution in AJ's case.

I don't like it, but it's a completely valid tactic.

I asked Rucker and he said that suspended players will still show up on the rosters, only dismissed players are taken off.

if you have 85 cows and one of them breaks through the fence and gets eaten by the wolves, wouldn't your time be better spent mending the fence and protecting the remaining 84 cows?

Likewise, if you have 100...err 85 sheep, would you not leave the 99...i mean 84, to go find the lost sheep? Then rejoice when he returned?

Von would be a defense witness, maybe,THE defense witness, in the AJ case...same prosecutor.

If you don't think you can win the first one, why not just make everyone as miserable as possible?
