Von Pearson Update

1. Fair point.

2. Honor codes should apply to things that apply to school, like academics. I find it highly inappropriate to entrust my future, or the future of anyone around me for that matter, to teachers on anything other than the subject matter they teach. If police, with forensic evidence and professional investigation cannot prove there is enough evidence to bring formal charges, why should a school? The evidence required to kick someone out of a school is much lower than to charge/incarcerate someone, which can easily lead to the school simply picking a side baselessly in a he said she said case as to not look soft on sex crime allegations.

3. Yes they can, and I disagree with that. People abuse our legal system daily for monetary gain and it's a mockery. That being said, I would hope if Von is innocent he would countersue.

The problem with him suing her is that he probably doesn't have a spare $30-50K laying around to pursue a case when if he wins, he collects nothing and has spent about 2-3 years dealing with all the stress from the legal case. While it sounds good to defend your name against these type of claims, most times it is not practical.

How long did it take with AJ?

His trial is in August.

I listened to the interview and Hubbs also said the police are still investigating so anything can happen. He was basically giving his gut feeling about what will happen.

Going with your gut can lead you down the wrong path, just ask GWB.

I'll feel better when there's some official word from the Police clearing Von.

Yep. It's not a done deal yet, but it seems like almost everyone within the football complex expects him to be back. Of course, the KPD will probably drag it out until December before announcing that he will not face charges.

but if you know anything about Hubbs then you know he wouldnt even give that much of an opinion if he wasnt feeling pretty good about it. Thats how conservative he is about saying certain things.

As much respect as I have for law enforcement, whenever the KPD is involved, I normally roll my eyes.

The fact that AJ couldn't get a trial date before the nfl draft could have cost him a lot of money.
I don't understand why he couldn't get a speedier trial.
Are the courts THAT backed up? August, seriously.

Not in Knoxville, but I can't get a 5 minute hearing until in August in most courts down here.

My wife has worked for an area DA for 10 years. Many of you have no idea what you are talking about, particularly when it comes to victims. Almost everything is slanted towards the defendent in these types of cases and most victims choose not to pursue. So, yes, tons of sexual criminals go free.

In this case, something happened and likely because Von chose to be in that situation. Considering what UT is currently dealing with it's stupidity.

Wouldn't it have been a whole lot easier if he had just kept his junk in is pants? Jeez. What's so hard aout that? It keeps these nasty accusations about assualt and possible rape at bay. Why is this so hard? Don't most 5 or 6 year olds learn that I get up in the morning, I shower, I put on my clothes, I go to school. I come home and play and the whole time I keep my organs put away in my pants. No problems. Did Von not learn this?
He said she said pal. No charges filed. Lesson learned.

I enjoy listening to Hubbs, but I always walk away with the feeling that he said absolutely nothing. And I love how he'll ask himself a question, then vaguely answer it. "Will Butch Jones make it 2 bowl games in a row? We'll have to wait and see. Are injuries enough to keep this defense from being in the top 10? I'm really not sure. Can coach Z make this receiving core finally live up to it's potential? Who knows? What about the recruitment of a DT from Montana? He really could go either way". :hi: Well thanks a lot, Hubbs. From now on, I get my crootin' news from Steve from Lexington.

"We've said for a long time that Tennessee appears to be in good shape with "x". We feel extremely confident that he'll sign with vols. Unless he changes his mind and signs with Bama...or UGA...or someone else.

That'll be $9.99, but if you sign up today will knock it down to $119.88 for the year. All major credit cards accepted. No checks please."
