Von Pearson Update

247:

"Tennessee senior wide receiver Von Pearson remains indefinitely suspended from all team activities after he recently was named a suspect in an ongoing rape investigation, and there’s still no indication of when the investigation might conclude. Sources with knowledge of the situation have suggested it’s entirely possible that Pearson will not face charges in connection with the alleged incident, based on what’s currently known about the case. Then again, some once had the same thoughts about former Vols linebacker A.J. Johnson’s off-field troubles last year, so it’s still far too early to assume that no charges will be brought against Pearson."

This is old news and being drug out. They have had plenty of time to investigate and come to a conclusion. He is innocent till proven guilty according to our legal system. He should be able to participate and play unless some new charges surface.

The ONLY reason Pearson is not on the team is because Butch doesn't want him there. Butch can reinstate him whenever he sees fit, even if he is charged. Don't try to put blame anywhere other than on Butch.

Whats your point with this? We all know Butch has a policy and we are all happy that he does, but you've missed (somehow) that our complaint is that we should know one way or the other by now so he's either back or gone. Somebody is dragging their feet with this, just like with AJ and Williams. It's entirely ridiculous to keep someone's life on hold like this.

hes suspended. Hes not really "off the team" yet. They just updated the roster and hes still there. They are just waiting it out. Its getting ridiculous that nothing has been decided by the KPD by now though.

Dooley is that you? You still pissed we fired you?

Blame the allegation on Butch? The slow process? He puts Pearson back on the team when there's been no resolution and you'll see the BLAME GAME in full effect. Let the head coach do his his thing and go make my ice cream cone! :aggressive:

This case is taking way too long, any other state and it would be done

It was stated earlier in the thread that they're holding up Von's case because they want him to testify against AJ (which surely he won't do) as he was apparently a witness to whatever happened in AJ's case. If he were to consent to testifying, the DA's office would "find a way" to expedite or drop his case.

This is the kind of crappy, no-win situation people find themselves put in with the court system. Testify against your friend and possibly put him in jail or don't testify and possibly get jailed or lose hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of season playing time and reputation yourself (as AJ did). I wonder if it's too late for Von to request a redshirt year.

Edit: This is apparently not the case, which seems positive.

I'm skeptical of this whole theory

I feel like if anyone is getting pitted against one another, it'd be AJ and Michael

I haven't followed this one much, so I'm not sure what info is and is not out. A girl I met (cleat chaser friend of a friend) was telling me that the girl left a voicemail on his phone saying that she had his career in her hands
If he still has the voicemail that's some pretty damning evidence that the girl is trying to set him up.

This is not in any way accurate.

The only person responsible for putting their life on hold is Pearson. He put himself on this mess and he is not bigger than the program. The program will go on with or without him. Butch's responsibility is maintaining the integrity of the program and everything else is secondary.

KPD and the entire Knox county justice system suck hard.

Totally disagree. These people have to deal with the ills of our society and they do a damn good job. I would not want to do what they have to do for as little pay as they get. Neither would you.
