Congrats to Owen for signing with Atlanta. One of the hardest working and most humble players around. #Class #Tough

Just saw this on twitter. figured someone else had, but they have been preoccupied peeing for distance over the cost of living in Moronifornia.

Not sure where #Vols WR Marquez North is going to sign, but MANY teams are trying to get him.

HaHa, that just sounds funny-- if MANY teams are trying to get him, then why didn't one of them draft him?!

My angle is that pay might be ok in a city like Nashville but really is squat in other places.

Ok I guess.

It's a free country - no one has to do anything.

He could always choose to move back home and get a job. Or join the military. Or whatever.

I also doubt seriously that Marquez would agree to being on the practice squad.

He made his choice, now he gets to make the best of it.

Very happy for Owen...I think he could end up making that team bc falcons defense is garbage

Strongest player on Team 119. Why he was not drafted is a case for Scooby- Doo and the gang. Falcons picked up one helluva player. Hope he wrecks havoc.

Owen will make the falcons a Super Bowl team. The rest of the NFL have their heads up their ass if they let that player slip out of their hands. #truth.

C Weatherd to the Saints

Would love to see Chris catch on there. He's a tweener with poor speed though (ran 4.8 on his pro day), so I'm a bit hard pressed to see how he does. Hope he can make the most of his opportunity and makes at least a practice squad somewhere.

Is that guy serious, I make 19K a year and get by, barely but I still make it, if they can't make it on 100K then they are idiots.

100k before taxes in CA is nothing especially if you live in La, or San Fran..

Exactly. In addition to agent fees and many states force professional athletes to pay taxes on their work days spent in the state. So if North/Howard, etc. makes the team, gets activated one game and goes to play the Jets, he is paying taxes in NY for his time spent there. Athletes pay under a "work day" rate compared with the season and their salary.

I know.. It's a rip.. Basically that get 16 checks 8 home and 8 that are suject to taxes for that state.. Nuts

But it's better than them not making anything right?! Better to get paid 91k a year not including taxes with a chance to make a roster than to struggle to make ends meet working at a dead end job...

True, but practice squad is not a safe job. Players are routinely released from it throughout the season. The only money that matters in the NFL is the guaranteed salary in your contract.
