I know it's not related, but I have to post it here:

Netanyahu just called Iran a "nuclear duck." I almost fell out of my chair.

Russia says it will retaliate for any U.S. sanctions over Ukraine #breaking

"they will have to defend themselves due to the footlessness of "Washington"

I didn't realize the US had any resolve in this situation...

We don't.

And shouldn't have any, at least not based on what has happened so far. And we've warned not to go further. I mean, if Russian tanks start slaughtering Ukrainian cities then we might have some resolve.

But right now this is simply NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

Okay, so what are the long term effects of Russian occupation of the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine?

How does this play out in the next six months to ten years?

I doubt even Putin has the stomach for another Afghanistan, which is what this would become.

I don't know but simple occupation of Crimea (where are you getting Eastern Ukraine from and what does it mean?) I don't think justifies any sort of military response by us, do you?

I'm not saying things could not change. I'm just saying that right now this is not something over which we have any input or acute enough interest to do other than what we are doing.

The eastern portion of the Ukraine where there is significant Russian support.

I'm not suggesting this justifies a military action on our part, but what would be next on Putin's agenda? In your opinion of course.

Ukrainian soldiers let half dozen into Yevpatoria base to negotiate. Man openly id's himself as Russian. Urges Ukrainians to turn over guns

So far Ukrainians refuse to hand over weapons. Negotiations on hold over whether separate Russian convoy intends to storm base. Crowd calm

Would it? Specifically in areas like the Eastern Ukraine and Crimea where there is significant Russian support?

what happens when the rest of Ukraine refuses to do business with the Russian occupied areas? Or the Russian pipelines that crisscross Ukraine are threatened?

MOSCOW, March 4 (Reuters) - Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) on Tuesday, with tensions high over its seizure of control in the Crimea and its threat to send more forces to its neighbour Ukraine.

The Strategic Rocket Forces launched an RS-12M Topol missile from the southerly Astrakhan region near the Caspian Sea and the dummy warhead hit its target at a proving ground in Kazakhstan, the state-run news agency RIA cited Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Yegorov as saying.
