Ukraine Protests

A hippie who has smoked so much dope and tripped so much acid, he actually became a fascist, despite his claims otherwise.

What a hateful, hateful man. And dumb as hell to boot.

Listening to him was like trying to follow the logic of a 5 year old's story about dragons conquering Tootsie Roll Land.

To add to that, I would love to get some research on that man's actual identity and past.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he has a criminal record here in the US and basically no actual job prospects, so being naturally loopy decided to make another life for himself over there while blaming his dumbassery on the US and "Nazis."

An old interesting article from James Baker, the current villain of pro-Russian sentiment and ideology, about what Russia's acceptance into NATO could have meant.

It's an interesting discussion, although, admittedly, with the internal problems Russia has, particularly at that time, I don't know how practical it would have been. Could you imagine Putin calling upon Article 5 for the Second Chechen War?

But, kind of like "what if Japan invaded the USSR instead of attacking the US?" or "what if Hitler never invaded the USSR?" or "what if the US had not supplied the USSR in its fight against Hitler?" etc. etc., we'll never know.

Oh lord, they truly think they are fighting a reformed 14th SS-Volunteer Division Galician.

You're just nursing hurt feelings because he called you out for being part of the educational system that transforms Americans into slime.

It did strike a chord.

It's kind of funny: on the one side you have people who think all I do all day is indoctrinate kids to become raging leftists, while on the other side, you have people who think all I do all day is turn them into good consumers and laborers.

It's a pickle.

Kind of like how my wife accuses me of being extreme right wing while her father accuses me of being extreme left wing.

You just can't win. You just can't. No use in even trying.

That was a resounding affair.

The Americans didn't seem to know why they were there (besides a cliche or two from Pyatt and the presumable commanding officer). The Ukrainians didn't know why they were there (and no cliches involved in that response).

Again, I'm not quite sure what we're doing. Sanctions are fine if that's the route you want to go, but, other than that and an assault upon Kiev or Odessa, it all seems very useless to me.

The war is over. The Donbass is Russia's.

And that's all there is to it.

Let's move on now.

A RT reporter had her things stolen last night covering the Baltimore protests. Can't lie and say I didn't find it somewhat amusing.

Me neither.

wut

Russia is far more invested in this part of the world than we are or should be.

While I think our intentions have been good, unlike what Pacer or Ras think, we just can't win this, nor can the Ukrainians.

The Russians have geography, money (yes, believe it or not), history, and time on their side.

I sometimes think of Putin doing his little Russian rendition of the Rolling Stones' "Time is on My Side" while reading his morning papers, as he always does.

Look, it's over. Done. If you or anyone else think we should really give military equipment to Ukraine, then I have to respectfully disagree and call you crazy as hell. All Putin is going to do then is raise the ante, and he's just right across the border (not 10,000 miles away like us).

Putin has won. It's done. If the Ukrainians want to keep fighting for the Donbass, then let them. That's their prerogative, and I don't blame them. But it will be a useless fight, and I sincerely hope the US does not get involved.

As I have said, however, should Russia push for more than what it's gotten thus far, than it will have a holy war for which it has not bargained. And it will not win.

Putin should stop while he's ahead, and I think he will. The Donbass and Crimea are his.

Let's end this. It's done. It's over. Time for people to stop suffering and let us all just move on.

People said Chamberlain was weak and crazy. Chamberlain was neither. Chamberlain just actually cared about people, unlike Churchill. What in the hell was the point of British or French dying for the godforsaken Sudenland, et al?

I'll go ahead and answer that: there was none.

But, yes, Hitler had to have more, so now Chamberlain looks like a weak idiot. But he really wasn't.

Why is a RT reporters life worth more than that of an average woman's, a Jew's, a homosexual's, a liberal's, or an intellectual's, all of whom both you and Pacer hate to death?

Just goes to show you that politics cause some people to unfairly hate others.

The fact that you and Rasputin_Vol agree should be a giant red flag to you.

Russia does not yet control all of Donbas, so I'm not sure why you are awarding it to Putin. If your point is that Ukraine will not militarily regain control of its territory, that may or may not be true, but it's not a reason not to arm Ukraine. He is frightening (some in the) West with talk of escalation, because he doesn't want Ukraine to strengthen its resistance.

At some point, it won't matter how many weapons the West sends over there. Kiev will eventually lose the will of the people to fight. I'm not so sure we haven't come to that point already.

And again, with our recent track history of arming people, who is to say that 6 months later, the weapons we send to Kiev don't end up in the hands of Right Sektor or the Eastern Ukrainians or Russians?

We need to mind our own business and let France and Germany handle this if it is such a big concern.
