Warnings are meaningless when you fail to follow through with any of of your prior warnings...if he really wanted to scare the Russians he should threaten imposing obamacare or some of his failed fiscal policies.

Looks to me like he's following the socialist economic policy playbook that Russia and the rest of the failed socialist states in Europe wrote. He's just arrogant enough to reinvent the socialist wheel b/c they didn't get it right the first 10 or 12 times they've tried it.

We warned them we were thinking of pulling out of the G-8 Summit. While symbolic, I really don't think that got the message across.

I'm sure someone over there is shaking...

Excellent point.

Looks like those rumors of reservists being called up were true, here are some some measures announced;

The armed forces would to be put on "full combat readiness"
Reserves to be mobilised and trained
Foreign minister to seek help from US and UK leaders in guaranteeing its security
Emergency headquarters to be set up
Security to be boosted at key sites, including nuclear plants
Airspace to be closed to all non-civilian aircraft

The Russians seem to be moving in quickly on the remaining Ukrainian forces remaining on Crimea. Several naval and army bases have been surrounded. Also they seem to be digging trenches on the Isthmus of Perekop.

Trenches?

Just noticed how little of a land connection Crimea has with anything. As a link I posted above suggested, why not just simply cut off its electricity?

Anti-vehicle efforts on the part of the Russians. If you channel mobile forces into designated paths like roadways, it's easier to block or destroy them if the need arises.

Freedom, Russian style:

In Moscow, thousands marched Sunday in a pro-invasion rally one day after Russia's parliament gave Putin a green light to use military force in Ukraine. At least 10,000 people bearing Russian flags marched freely through the city, while dozens of people demonstrating on Red Square against an invasion of Ukraine were quickly detained by Russian riot police.

Sad, I feel for those people. This is a glaring example as to why it is important that this country adheres to the principles of the constitution.

So, Russia is entrenched in the Crimea.

Collective thoughts on the next move on the part of the Ukraine or Russia?

Omitting the EU and US response since I don't see a great deal of reaction from either yet.

Depends on if those reports of Russian forces amassing on the border are true or not.

Freedom, Russian style:

I'm no Wayne Allen Root, however the odds are decidedly in Putins favor . Sadly we are insignificant on the world stage . Our own inaction has invited this type of reaction from Russia , sit back grab a beer and watch the show.

UK announcing government officials will not be attending the para-olympics, so there's that.

A lot of symbolic posturing right now which is to be expected.

But the majority of us agree that this is a Ukraine/Russia problem. So they need to take the lead here. What's the next moves on the part of the Ukraine to get Russia out or does Russia move into the Ukraine proper for "security?"

Obama went to one of his brats BB game I think...hes already warned Putin so it will be OK!

Hussein obamar is all tough guy when it’s Libya or Syria.

I guess this isn’t a war on behalf of the muslim brotherhood so this isn’t of interest to him.

What did he do in Syria?

Hard to say. I don't know how much Russian separatist support there actually is elsewhere. These are allegedly cities that are flying Russian flags.

If Russia is going to invade the main land, wouldn't they have done so by now? I don't see the advantage in waiting unless they are still organizing their forces.

Prediction: Civil War in the Ukraine. If Russia decides the victor, a prolonged insurrection that will spread into other former members of the USSR, such as Georgia, Checnya, Dagestan and Azerbaijan where there are already problems.
