That is key. Either way, Ukrainian forces will be **** kicked. I hate it for them.
Not necessarily. While technologically outmatched, we've seen how the Russians had a hard time dealing with the resistance type forces in Chechnya. And resistance bands fighting in their own lands make for some pretty significant adversaries (look at our own Revolution and people like Francis Marion)

You're certainly correct. Except for this: the beauty of the Chechen model is not so much its strategy but its geography and geology. Mountains are a problem. Just look at Afghanistan for both us and the Soviets. As I understand, the Ukraine is mostly just a flat piece of nothing.
Agreed. If they move mainland that is when I expect Ukrainian military units to start resisting, if the Russians stay in Crimea then I think this is finished.
I'm surprised that the Russians even found Ukraine on a map. Have you seen the Russian language. You got letters all turned upside down & letters turned back ass wards. The only thing they get right is numbers. For the life of me, I don't see how they understand & even read their own printed language. I'm sure they have stick figures for men & women bathrooms on the doors......oh wait, we got those too. Edit: A lot of sarcasm in this post applied for those that missed it.
Something just crossed my mind. I've seen some news reports say that a lot of the soldiers seen have not been confirmed as Russian soldiers as they aren't wearing known Russian military uniforms and don't have any flags/insignias etc. on their uniforms.
Isn't that against the Geneva convention? Now if it is it isn't likely the UN would do anything about.
There are unconfirmed reports of a large mass of Russian troops and military vehicles on the border of Russia and Ukraine, according to a Kiev-based Russian-language publication supportive of the EuroMaidan protests.
Gordonua.com, a web news site maintained by the editor of Gordon Boulevard, says they have a report from a local resident that at the border post of Senkova in Chernihiv Region, there are a lot of Russian APCs and buses with soldiers concentrated on the Russian side of the border.
Russian military are telling reporters today that they are on a Western Front training exercise at this location, about 190 kilometers from Kiev where the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian borders come together. Earlier this week, 150,000 Russian troops were suddenly put on a combat readiness training. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the maneuvers were not related to events in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian border guards told Gordonua.com that they do not know what is going on, and they will act as they are ordered. But they did let it be known that in the event of attack, they cannot withstand such a number of forces.

Again unconfirmed;
Also there have been rumors starting to surface that the Ukrainian National Security/Defense Council has issued a nation wide mobilization and call up of reserves slated to take effect at 8am local time.
