TrumPutinGate

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was paid by several Russian companies before becoming an adviser to Donald Trump, according to new documents obtained and published by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, including $11,250 by Russia's top cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky, in 2015. Flynn was also paid $11,250 by the Russian charter cargo airline Volga-Dnepr Airlines, according to the documents.

I guess that's settled.

I've not read this entire thread, nor do I plan to, but what is the argument here? That Russia hacked and released Democrat emails, or that they somehow hacked the election itself to give Trump the victory? People voted. Trump won. Email leaks happen all the time for one reason or another. Whether from domestic hackers or foreign hackers, or disgruntled aides, or any number of sources. No one ever seems to have a problem with it unless it involves harm(or perceived harm) to their party. No amount of complaining is going to change the results of the election. Trump may flop big time, neither candidate was a good choice imo, but he is the lawfully elected POTUS.

Not the jist as I understand it. TrumpPutinGate is the investigation into whether Trump is in Putin's pocket. Whether he had contact with Russia during the election and exchanged promises to Russia in exchange for Russia's attempting to swing the election in his favor. Russia was responsible for a major misinformation campaign and for hacking leaks during the election. That's simple spygame ****. The real question is whether Trump worked in concert with Russia. If so, he could be in big trouble. Who knows whether there's evidence that that actually occurred. Nevertheless, there is smoke, so people want to see if there's fire.

No one is questioning whether Trump was legally elected. The question is whether he committed treason to get there.

Some of these partisan hacks on the right, like Hannity or Coulter, or Napolitano, are so unwavering in their pushing the GOP point of view, that they've slid from defending the highly improbable to touting the downright irrational.

They are too far gone to be salvaged and have little time left in their careers.

Sounds exactly like my middle-schooler.

- Did you finish that novel?

Dad, no, my friend had a relationship emergency and I had to support them.

- OK, give me your phone and don't leave your room until you can answer all my questions about this novel.

Why are you so cruel!? I hate you!

Someone needs to do this for the POTUS. Like my middle-schooler, he would thank them later. He could start with The U.S. Constitution and The Federalist Papers.

Perhaps inadvertently he mentions that the "costs of the country are out of control." I think that was a nuanced attempt at shifting the appearance of the burden from the real issue, spending.

Who am I kidding, he probably couldn't spell nuance let alone employ it in a conversation.

Half the people in this forum couldn't spell nuance. I'm not sure that's an indicator of intelligence.

Look man. You may be right (you are) but I still don't need a voice of reason throwing shade on my Trump bashing.

Your Trump bashing isn't as bad as many on here. I won't name names, but some that might have the initials C86, VP, VV and others have a completely unhealthy obsession with everything the man does and making sure we are aware of said displeasure. And it's my opinion that no matter what he does, he will always be wrong.

That was kind of my intent with the sacred cows thread. I wanted to see the hypocrisy of some that claim to want a smaller government turn around and whine and moan about the cuts that are being made in the budget. Because...Trump.

Concurrently, some on here have an unhealthy obsession with everything the man does and act like a giddy fat kid in a free candy shop every time Twitter comes alive with the latest and greatest from The Donald. That can be unhealthy as well.

As I've always said, there is a careful balance to be had. I think he needs to dial back the Twitter in a big way, but I also like the direction he is going with the size/scope of the government and bringing in those not afraid to upset the apple cart on the Washington establishment.

So Roger Stone gives hints throughout the campaign that "news" is about to drop concerning Trump's opponents, and, indeed, "news" then dropped. He then admits later that he had been in "innocuous" contact with the DNC hackers.

How is this man not in a prison cell starting yesterday?

That's an ugly thing to say to me. Clearly time to step up my game.

I mostly concur with your assessment though. I'm not convinced he's all together there, hopefully someone will step up and separate him from his twitter. I think many of the moderates who voted for him are already growing weary of his delivery. Election season is over - time to put away the twitter and lean in and make good on promises (e.g. negotiating a payment for a wall out of Mexico.)

You guys remember how I said this depraved soul will not hesitate to start either a foreign conflict or a civil crisis in order to shirk what's coming to him?

While I'm not going to read too much into the comments, Tillerson's statements on North Korea are troubling.

Something to keep an eye on.

The most important thing you must always remember about Donny is that he's actually what the lunatic fringe thinks the Clintons are.

He's done okay so far on keeping his campaign promises on several fronts. I never thought the Mexicans were going to trip over themselves Inauguration Day and agree to payment. So, I'll give that one time to develop. I have this feeling we will pay in the beginning, but somehow or some way, the money will come back to us. Does that count as a "they paid for it!" moment? Perhaps. Depends on perspective on what we get in the long run.

But overall, I do believe we are seeing some honest (you might even call it needed) change in the Washington establishment. Cutting budgets to several departments has been needed for a long time and will force them to realize the missing pieces really weren't that important and/or could be done within existing areas. I, for one, have no problems cutting the fat from the Federal side of things.

I know one poster got annoyed and used my phrase "wait and see" at some point over the past couple of weeks. There are several agenda items that will require patience to see how they unfold.

This isn't the only thing I have an unhealthy obsession with. I balance it out with other obsessions.

Well said, Velo.

If some Americans want to put their heads in the sand because, true to form, some populares impostor in the White House wants to budget cut while robbing the country blind, then so be it.

But we'll keep the watch as best we can. And what a lot to watch there is.

An interesting question is, if irrefutable evidence emerges that MAGA was in cahoots with the Russian government before the election, how many Republicans will care and how many will be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯?

Probably a great many more than I care to admit. We've already had one nihilist, who masquerades around as a conservative, admit that he would essentially do it all over again, even if Trump proven a traitor. He won't be the only one.

The problem here is that this is a cult. Cults do not think rationally. They only care about the cult and, most importantly, the leader. The rest of the world be damned. The leader and the cult are the world, in their minds.

I can't imagine sinking to that level of existential garbage. That's the moral equivalent of that giant trash heap that is said to be floating around somewhere in the Pacific.

I don't think it got posted in here, but did anyone else see that Feinstein-Grassley presser after Comey spoke to the Senate Intel Committee Wednesday?

I can't find the full video, in which Grassley also mumbles something as they depart, but they each look like they had just seen a ghost.

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/se...lent-after-trump-russia-briefings-with-comey/

We will probably hear a lot of the same “and highly classified and it’s really not anything we can answer any questions about” on Monday as well.
