So no reason to think there’d be a foreign policy problem before that? If there’s a potential issue with a candidate leading up to an election I’d think the press would have been reporting it.....before a narrative was in place.

You don't charge anyone until you have exhausted all investigative leads and built the best case you can. If they were going after a big time drug dealer they wouldn't charge them with selling a dime bag.

Do you know how they get the big time drug dealer? They gather evidence to convict the dime bag seller and get them to flip on the big time drug dealer. Once the dime bag seller flips that is when the big time drug dealer becomes a target. Low and behold that is exactly what Mueller is doing. Trump is not a "target" according to the FBI and DOJ and that has been a rallying cry for the right wing to declare Trumps innocence. Its working on you.

Unfortunately, is seems as if many of the people making the decision will base it solely on how the Trumpers in their constituency feel.

In the end the people's opinion will dictate the outcome. That's why Trump has relentlessly tried to discredit and mislead. He is smart enough to realize that if he can convince a large enough percentage of his base that it was a "witch hunt" carried out by the biased "deep state" then his quilt doesn't matter.
