Simpson is ok for a dropback offense with a bunch of stud TEs, OL around him. Leavitt has wheels and creates on the fly. Does more with less. Similar to OM QB.

You’re giving too much credit to Leavitt. He was the QB for a team that went to the playoffs that year but that was Skattebo’s team. That’s like saying Nico lead us to the playoffs in 2024, when we all know it was Sampson, our DLine and lockdown corners.

Fans need to realize what the coaches are acutely aware of....the portal remains open. If you can get a guy at a position where there's little talent or depth, sign a guy and announce it. If you've got a room with young talent you don't want to lose, you keep deals quiet until that portal closes. Simple...or so it seems to my old mind.

AP and crew don’t know the exact plan.

I could see something like the plan being starter quality QB if not overpaid (whatever they deem that to be) but if not available then pivot to a guy that is depth but can compete for the starting spot and is less expensive.

So that money can be spent elsewhere.

This a great point.
Plus, we are privy to the re-negotiations happening with those kids you mention currently in that room. This is all probably happening simultaneously. What a pain.

No you can’t do that history kinda of supports it. Unless you’ve got a top 10-12 defense you can’t do that. Freshman QB’s don’t go to the playoffs. Our defense can probably get in the top 40 next year but it won’t be top 10.
