'26 Transfer QB options

No you can’t do that history kinda of supports it. Unless you’ve got a top 10-12 defense you can’t do that. Freshman QB’s don’t go to the playoffs. Our defense can probably get in the top 40 next year but it won’t be top 10.
Julian Sayin was a 2nd year QB and was a Heisman finalist who led his team to the playoffs. He came into the season having completed 5 of 12 passes in his career (1 season). GMac will be a 2nd year QB who will come into the season having completed 7 of 9 passes in his career (1 season).

He had his chance to be a Vol and spit in our face.

Eff em.

And Leavitt is better. Especially for this offense. Took freakin ASU to the playoffs.

Simpson is ok for a dropback offense with a bunch of stud TEs, OL around him. Leavitt has wheels and creates on the fly. Does more with less. Similar to OM QB.
Dude this whole oh he had his chance so screw him is childish. Grow up. And no Leavitt isn’t better than Simpson.

Literally my point exactly. Thank you for proving it. Ohio State ranked #1 in team defense.
Did that #1 ranked defense cause Sayin to throw for 3,600 yards? Did the defense get him to New York as a Heisman finalist?

Just telling me I proved your point doesn't make it so. He was an outstanding QB this year with as little experience as Mac will have going into 2026. THAT is the point.

So if GMac throws for 3600 yards like Sayin did, are we going to be upset?
Chet Holmgren ain’t throwing 3600 yards next year.

Probably one of the only bets I’d ever put $1000+ on.

But I’m not fair towards him anyways. I’ve never been a fan. Don’t think he will ever start here. BUTTTTT there’s a chance since we don’t have a QB yet.

Will admit that I was a little reluctant to say it, but I feel the same way. As for freshman, Nico did it and I’ll bet Gmac runs this offense more effectively.
Second, I’d be very concerned if we blow a large percent our funds on a QB at the expense of defense personnel. Fixing this defense is mission critical.

He may not. But if he doesn't start next year, it won't be because a Redshirt Freshman/true sophomore can't be successful. They absolutely can.

I think he can be successful. I don’t think we can go to the playoffs next year with Gmac as your starter.

I wonder about the QB situation. Now I don’t know for sure, I really don’t know anything. But hear me out. It seems that, at least we think, we aren’t being that aggressive on the QB front. So could it be that Heupel somehow knows what’s gonna happen with Joey? Meaning maybe he knows that Joey is coming back?

I know that sounds dumb. But is that even a possibility?

They don’t even have a hearing date yet so don’t know how they would have any sort of feeling. Not dumb though I’m sure there’s a chance.

I even just looked through the on3 rankings they have all committed somewhere besides Leavitt and Raiola. Or have at least been cb’d somewhere
