Total War: Warhammer

first look at campaign map. doesn't actually show regions or city names. but you can see what it looks like and some of the models.

Alas, I'm off TWW for a while. Only have time to play one game right now and it's a modded XCOM 2.

xcom is fun but I hate how easy it is to lose. So easy to lose half your squad in a off turn. everyone in cover no enemies in sight. enemy turn. they move into view, see you. reaction move, move again. shoot. and with some of the big bots they ignore/destroy cover so you are just dead.

shoot an enemy it gets a reaction move towards you and beats your brains in. or a reaction shot/whatever. dead enemy comes back to life in perfect flank position, dead. one of the snakes snipe tongues your guy across the dang map and drags him away from the squad so he can't be saved. dead. Robots so tough a whole turn of 6 guys shooting it can't kill it. dead. enemy reinforcements spawn right behind your cover, dead.

That was great, but I didn't see much dark elves in that.

the only way I can make progress is to play a mission first, die horribly. then load right before that mission and then know what the heck is coming at me. with all the timed missions you can't get everyone into a perfect position each time.

I can't wait to play as the Lizardmen. I may never get around to any other races to be honest. I can't wait to let a Lord specialize in Lightning Strike and Ambushes and call her "Clever Girl."

High Elves and being able to buy decisions will be fun, I just wonder how they are going to be set up and who else is on the island.

Not to derail but moving cautiously within your turn limitations is the real challenge. I haven't been so frustratingly satisfied with my performance in a game since Dark Souls/playing Smash Bro. tourneys with Koreans.

if the pattern holds there will be something late this week or by Wednesday of next week for some info on the Dark Elves.

That reminds me, did you guys see the mini-game about the whiskered creatures who are totally not Skaven?

by CA?

honestly, as a fan of the lore I have to say I appreciate how they are treating the skaven secrecy.

hey Persian, a little information on what CA is doing non-Warhammer wise. They are introducing a new historical game style called "Saga" which follows specific events closely. they compare it to fall of samurai.

Michael: Any hints yet as to the content? Why did you want to make a game based at this particular point in history?

Jack: We’ll announce it properly in the next few months, but I can say that it’s another spiritual follow-up to Total War: ROME II, like Total War: ATTILA, and moves the time period forward in much the same way. It’s great being able to build on and optimise the tech and the content from those games, like the work we did on ATTILA with Age of Charlemagne. Especially for a moment in history we’ve not spent enough time with yet as a studio.

I don't know how I feel about this. Seems like they're just telling us not to expect anything special with the historical game and that we aren't going to put all our resources into it.

battle from the high elf side.

imbed wasn't working so there is the link.

Persian, I agree. Its dubious how they have split things up when they weren't before. kinda feel all the games are getting that treatment.

hype for the hype god

except for the girl, I hate all of their crew that does these videos. They are terrible, both at the game, at explaining and showing things (which could be on purpose) and talking. I seriously want to stab my ears when hearing them speak.

but yeah this is looking good. however my belief that they would publish dark elf stuff today or tomorrow is not.

A teaser for a trailer, but at least it's something.
