Total War: Warhammer

welp, they actually released it today. I watched the video but I am trying to find a typed version. Honestly this video was one of the worst I have seen them do as far as actually conveying information.

also I am pretty ticked about the unit selection. A bunch of stuff left off and at least from the descriptions in video they are doing a lot of wrong/different.

Considering I know little about the lore, I will probably end up being that ******* who will actually like it

its not a terrible selection but they left off some key units. I still think they will have some very interesting builds but I definitely see a DLC or two in their future.

it was also interesting that they will have a unique garrison only choice. which is not lore friendly but I don't mind it seeing the situation they have.

Lothern Sea Guard, Phoenix Guard, Dragon Princes, Bolt thrower, lord on a dragon. thats a pretty mean army. maybe another monster or two.

their home island is a big circle with a sea in the middle, with the big end game vortex being on an island there. sounds like controlling these gates will be huge. depending on how they count them there should be 5. Phoenix, Dragon and Unicorn gates to the north; Griffon and Eagle to the west. technically there aren't any to the east. but then there is also Lothern a city on the southern point which guards the one water entrance to the inner sea. I imagine that will be heavily defended as well.

so the wtw conspiracy theorists are betting for a September launch. I have a hard time buying it.

they are going back to the release of WTW 1 where for the four months before launch they did the rosters and information on each of the four main factions. So May was Lizardmen, June was High Elves, July is probably Dark Elves, August Skaven with release the month after.

plausible but I still have a hard time buying it.

CA mentioned that they are going to throw in a new race prior to the launch of Warhammer 2.

My gut says it's Albion. GW has given CA license to expand on factions and create new units, and Albion is right there and empty.

:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::drool::drool::drool::drool:

ok, adding a new race would be very interesting. especially non lore. I don't mind it at all. They already said no Kislev, so also probably not one of the other existing minor factions. wondering if it will be playable, sounds like they are charging which would require them to be playable.

Albion would be interesting, I don't know squat about them. I didn't take part in that mini campaign. Araby would be an possibility. Chaos Dwarves, doubt its one of the far east factions. Albion would fit my thought that they have been expanding the map west and you can see land out there.

Outside shot is the skaven. since they mentioned that the race will be close to launch of 2 I could see them adding to the main game for those that don't get 2. since they are based in the Old World it would help complete that story.

ok I have convinced myself it should be the skaven. Here is my thought process. They release old world Skaven. Council of 13, and maybe one more but I would be fine with 1 faction in the following scenario. If I was them I would do the skaven as the last roster reveal for 2. get everyone talking about that. then maybe during that month, but at least two weeks out from launch of 2, release this DLC. Give the players a taste of the skaven. get them familiar with a faction in 2. Then for 2 they can do Clan Pestilens which will have a completely different starting location, lords, play style, content, units etc so it doesn't feel like you are buying the same faction twice. Doing the Skaven twice would complete the Old World factions so those players just with 1 would have access to everything they should. But it would also still leave enough for the skaven in 2 to feel unique. it would stir up excitement for the launch of 2, getting to play test a faction in 1.

releasing the skaven in the old world for 1 would also fill a lot of map holes imo. Skavenblight, Karak Eights Peaks and their placeholder goblin tribe "mutinous gits", and maybe fill in some more of the dead/empty space in the mountains. also Hell Pit in Troll Country would be cool too. if they wanted to they can do what some of the rumors have suggested about 2 where the settlements will have more slots. Each of these rat nests could have 8+? slots, making them viable one off locations in a world otherwise settled.

I don't like reading that the new faction will actually be a reworked faction from 1. I am thinking it will be Chaos. Monsters and starting positions were mentioned. Only Chaos and Empire have only one starting position. but empire doesn't have any monsters. maybe for chaos they are doing god specific army's? or maybe adding daemons? It would help with the end game.

just watched the interview at e3. not much in the actual interview as far as new footage. they show a dragon fighting the carnosaur and slamming it to the ground. also had the carnosaur bully its way underneath the dragon. if they have added that level of interaction between big models that will be awesome.

they did mention they were letting people play the battle and there is a snipit about the campaign map being visible. those will be the things to see imo.

General consensus seems to be that the race DLC will be Norsca.

making them playable finally? I don't know if they are going to be worth it. You are trading a lot of the better troops, characters and probably monsters from Warriors of Chaos for the ability to hold territory. interaction with the chaos invasion will be interesting as well. also no lore army, but they have already said that won't be an issue.

idk. really not liking that option. especially as the final act for 1. it just doesn't excite me; and this is coming from someone who would gladly pay 20+ bucks for more lore accurate non playable factions.

devil have you played as the orks with steel faith? they gave them more money which is nice but fightiness is broke, in a bad way. winning a battle only gives up a +1 modifier to fightiness for a turn. casualties are still a big negative. haven't seen a heroic victory yet, but decisive is also only +1

Yeah, I have. SFO is supposed to make everything harder, but the Greenskins are a little too nerfed for my taste. It's strange because on VH the Greenskins seem to have absolutely no issue raising multiple waagh armies.

About Norsca - The conspiracy theorists on Reddit (who have been mostly right so far) seem to think that CA will add in unique monsters for Norsca. If they get a roster overhaul it might not be too bad. I'm still partial to Albion of Dogs of War or something like it myself, but I'm guessing that DoW will be a WH2 DLC if they come out at all.

I dont see how they can do DoW without fixing TEB first.

Can we just pause and be happy that GW finally has a good franchise since DoW?

So much potential squandered in Corsair, the space game, the firewarrior game, mordheim, space marine, the terminator squad shooter... so many letdowns.

I can't seem to recall what TEB is. It's probably something simple and obvious, knowing me.

Tilea, Estalia, Border Princes.

unless you are considering DoW to be the true TEB units, then we are on the same page.

also SFO is kicking my butt right now in a MP campaign as Bretonnia. Turn 17 I had three full stack enemy armies inside my borders, with a fourth half stack hanging out too. The orks (Facesmashas?), Marienburg, and Skaeling all decided to roll on me. only redeeming factors are that they can't win a battle over me, yet; and my friend just cleared up his start mess as the Empire and will be helping me shortly.

Corsair was one I have never heard of. Which space game? Armada? that was fun but it doesn't have the depth to last, honestly it seemed like they were testing out mechanics for other games. Firewarrior I never played. Mordheim never took off because there were too many options. Space Marine had its moment but never received the support it needed to last. I still get invites to play but I don't even have it installed. Space Hulk Deathwing was fun for the first level; then you realize you are doing the same crap for forever. They missed a big opportunity there. had it been run like Destiny it could have done a lot better. but one enemy does not a game make.

Vermintide also sucked. Their mmo's fell flat on their faces, glad I never signed up for them. DoW3 looks like complete crap. probably because they took GW's method and said "lets take the old game, get rid of what made it interesting and just add big units".

I enjoyed DoW3 for a bit. Not as good as 1 and definitely not 2.

Also Age of Reckoning was a HUGE letdown.

You should play Firewarrior, lol. Any computer can run it at this point. It's an FPS through the eyes of a Tao commando. So much potential to be badass.
