Too much ice

No one in the video appeared to be running. Unless detained you are not obligated to interact with police. They can't claim every interaction is part of some massive investigation
He was moving away from the agent as he said, "Come talk to me." I'm not sure rate of retreat is important. But when he got to the shopping carts, he ran, and that's when he was tackled.

He had the right to remain silent, and the right to ask if he was being detained. He did neither. He refused to stop, and then bolted.

The officer said, "Come talk to me." I guess it'll have to go to court whether that is an order to stop. When he bolted, he was fleeing. I don't think there's any way to argue against that.

I'll also add that I suspect he bolted because he believes that being inside the store means that ICE can't follow him there. (That would not be true. They couldn't follow him into the private parts of the store, but can apprehend him in the public parts of the store.

It looks like he was trying to slow-play a retreat from the agent's command, stalling until he could get inside the store.

He could have stopped, asked if he were free to go, and refused to say another word. He didn't do any of that.

I suspect they stopped him to question him due to his accent. Funny thing, if he'd kept his mouth shut and not started with the "**** you" trash, they may not have had cause to even question him (though it would seem that "being brown" is indeed enough).

It was target but are there illegals working at home Depot?

Many reports of them going after Hispanics without cause. We should all want the officers held to the law

I want them held to the law. I don't want them demonized for doing their job according to the law.

Things are a powder keg out there. Twisting things to amp things up is not wise. I want illegals peacefully deported, agents to go home safely to their safe families, and protestors to protest peacefully and go home safely to their safe families.

Yes. They steal identities and get jobs. Or they over stay work visas.
They go get jobs at Home Depot? Or do you mean they are at home Depot looking for work? There's a massive difference?

And do we really want to first deport someone who gets a job at home Depot and goes to work every day? Seems that the type you go after once the bad guys are gone

Both, and yes. If they have a stolen identity or have overstayed a work visa. Both are not legal.

They're a powder keg because that's what they want. These peaked in HS cosplayers want the confrontation. Lots of videos showing they have no business interacting with the public.

If you've got 10 officers at target to question the guy running carts then you're doing a piss poor job.

Since the great majority are working under the table to avoid paying taxes and their families are also receiving SNAP and other welfare benefits, they are defrauding the system that's otherwise not available to actual US citizens.

So they avoid being robbed by the govt? Having a hard time finding the negative

Your personal indignation aside...

I don't think they were there to question him. I think they were sweeping for illegals, for whatever reason Target was the... well, target.

He could probably have kept himself off their radar if he'd kept his mouth shut and just ran carts. For whatever reason, he decided to make a point and in so doing opened himself up for questioning. He refused, backed away as they told him they wanted to talk to him, and turned to bolt when he reached the store entrance.

At that time, he gave them probable suspicion.

If he'd just exercised his right to be quiet, he'd likely have been OK.
