'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

It is a doucher move. I am not hurt by any of it but it is what it is. I may raise a future hall of fame qb and he may play for Alabama but I can guarantee I won't encourage him to play there. Try not to be offended by everything

I'm offended? That's rich coming from a guy calling a recruits dad a douche because he read a RUMOR that his dad MAY be advising his son to go to a rival school... smdh...

Now who is offended and better yet, who is the douche here?

UT is the laughing stock of college football. Why would anyone try convince their son to play at UT? The organization is so poorly run I'm surprised anyone with other P5 offers would go there.

UGA was 8-5 or 7-6 just a yr ago. Things change quickly. Next yr will be interesting for them after they lose 85% of the players who mean anything to that team.

According to UGA boards Mays dad is pushing him to UGA, I would think a VFL would not push his son to one of our rivals but nothing surprises me with some of our former players. I get you can't force your child to do something he doesn't want to do but that is completely different than encouraging him to go to a rival of UT.

The VFL moniker is severely overblown, IMO. Us fans love the idealistic thought of it, but in reality, it's far more often fantasy than reality. We live in a selfish, self-serving society anymore, and few and far between are the people who want to sacrifice to be a part of something bigger than themselves. We teach the idea that "you've got to get yours", and then we act surprised, disappointed even, when someone does just that. Cade Mays is making a business decision, and his father knows that Clemson or UGA are good business right now. "VFL" or not, they see dollar signs, and the path of least resistance doesn't lead thru Knoxville.

This is a perfect example of why we should celebrate instate kids like Alontae Taylor, who could have gone anywhere he wanted, but chose to stay home and represent his home state when it wasn't the easy thing to do.

That would be you butter cup

You act like Kevin Mays owes UT something. He gave his four years for our football team and UT helped him get a degree. We traded services. No where in the recruiting papers does it say that if you have a son one day who is a major college football prospect he must sign with your school. Maybe we should put that in the fine print.

Generally when you play for a team, you have pride in the school you played for but maybe you don't. You build bonds with teammates and coaches but maybe you didn't. Soccer seems like a more appropriate sport for you.

17 seniors, 11 starters if you count the punter. 2018 was suppose to be the year, never know, next year might be 8-5 again.

Might want to re-evaluate your life's priorities.

The acronym VFL applies to the former players of the University of Tennessee. It doesn't apply to their children, their dog, their step-brother, or a cousin on their mom's side thrice removed.

It's beyond past time for people to move on, find closure in this whole thing, and leave the kid (and his VFL dad) alone. Calling a former VFL a douche over his kid's decision is the epitome of butthurt.

The Georgia thing is about Sam Pittman and NFL. They got a first have look a few years back. It is a business decision. Get over it.

It's a doucher move to steer someone to UGA over UT. I am sorry if that offends you maybe you should not get so easily offended. I couldn't care less where he plays. It is what it is

I am glad your name's sake father didn't share your logic or countless others at different schools throughout the nation.

You think his dad “steered” him anywhere? Geez, we sound like those Ole Miss nuts harassing Archie over his son picking UT. The oldest Manning, Cooper donned a UT jersey and strolled Oxford daring anyone to say anything about it. Remember thinking how out of bounds those yokels sounded...now us! :thud:

Get your panties out of a bunch. He's going to Clemson.

If some goofball walks into a bar with sunglasses on his hat at midnight because he thinks it looks cool is a doucher, acknowledging that he is one doesn't make upset. It makes me right.

If Eric had picked another school you think his dad would have disowned him. I don’t. Auburn was a favorite for the twins at one point. Never heard a peep from Eric or the dad.

reading comprehension is a real struggle these days, I have stated many times "if" he steered him, if not then his son is his own man.

"disowned"?? Good grief go hug Kevin and tell him I am sorry that he pulled a doucher move steering him to UGA. He can still claim his son lol

The level of butt hurt by some in here over being rejected by a high school recruit is hilarious.. I didn't realize some of our fans were so tender....

I'd be willing to bet that James Berry never "steered" his children here, and if they wanted to go to UGA, or Auburn, or Texas, or Northern Iowa he would've supported them completely.

Displays of idiocy like this are probably the #1 reason a VFL dad might not even want his child to come to UT at this point. You clowns should never procreate.
