'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

UT is the laughing stock of college football. Why would anyone try convince their son to play at UT? The organization is so poorly run I'm surprised anyone with other P5 offers would go there.

Things change quickly. That laughing stock you speak of has won 2 out of the last 3 against Georgia.

That is like saying well I guess his dad prefers Alabama over a school UT never plays. It's a complete doucher move by his father imho

I see what your saying but since UT is out his dad is offering his opinion on what he thinks is the best for his son long term. Now I know his dad played here 30 years ago but it is different now. I do believe if we would have hired Fulmer and Pruitt from the get go Cade would still be a Vol, but we crapped the bed. I'll put it this way I coached a little bit of basketball a few years back. I had a kid who was a good ball player and when it was time for him to move on to play In college he had an offer where I played. Would I have loved to see him go there sure, but it wasn't a good fit at that particular time. He ended up go to another school and had a good career there. Sometimes it's all about timing and fit. Clearly we don't fit what Cade wants and let's face it the timing sucks.

Do you think the guys on the GA board know anymore than the guys here? Hell no!!! They don’t have any idea where his dad is pushing him.

It’s on the Internet it has to be true.

Quickly? Tennessee hasn't won their division in a decade and hasn't won the conference in nearly two decades. I guarantee they won't win the East next year.

Somebody needs to put a tent over that circus.

No I don't but considering UT isn't in the top 3 and UGA is it is certainly a very good possibility they are correct.

Maybe they won't but UT has won a NC much more recently than UGA and to claim that UGA is somehow here to stay simply because they had a good year this year isn't very realistic either. UGA will lose arguably the top two running backs in the league this year and the vast majority of their defense. The East will very much be up in the air next year and his chances of winning a championship at UGA aren't significantly better than UT's during the next four years

Why are people still wasting their time in this thread? The kid bad mouths UT, doesn't seem interested anymore and seems like he's not a good fit anyway. Move on and let's let this thread die and start talking about young men that are interested in being vols.

It’s also been said that his dad was going to let him make his own choices and not push him to follow his footsteps.

Sounds to me like Cade got but hurt and decided he wasn’t coming here. His dad is going to let him be his own man and right or wrong make a decision for himself.

I love UT but I won’t make my son go there when his time comes. Will he be the player I was and have options where to play? That’s yet to be seen but there’s a chance. If it happens I will give him my opinions but I’m not going to force him to go somewhere he doesn’t want to go.

I don't care where he goes. I am merely pointing out, if reports are true and his dad is pushing him to UGA, what a doucher move that is on his part and hope someone reminds him of it. If Cade truly is trolling UT fans then I am afraid the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree in this case.

There is a huge difference between allowing your son to make his own decisions and pushing him to play for a rival of your former team

Absolutely, but you’re taking what was said on a message board as the truth. If everything that was said on the message boards were true. Gruden would be our coach, we would have the #1 recruiting class in the nation and we would never lose another game.

Quit taking everything said on a message board as gospel. If you don’t see it yourself 99% of the crap thrown around isn’t true.

This right here is why I would love for a kid like this to play at one of our rivals in UGA. The only issue I see if he goes to UGA is his path to playing time. He will be the headliner OL signee this year for UGA outside of Trey Hill (projects to be a guard) but will be caught behind the fruits of UGA's last two recruiting classes. As of right now their projected starting line-up on the OL in 2018 will look like this:

LT: Isaiah Wilson (RSFr.)
LG: Kendall Baker (Sr.), Pat Allen (RSJr.)
C: Laimont Gaillard (Sr.)
RG: Solomon Kindley (RSSo.), Ben Cleveland (RSSo.)
RT: Andrew Thomas (So.), Ben Cleveland (RSSo.)

Unless Cade learns how to snap the ball he will only be a serviceable back up until at minimum his 3rd year on campus. If UGA starts to drop off I wonder how well a kid with the kind of demeanor I have been hearing about will take that.

He’s a prototype RT. He’ll be starting there by the end of his freshman season. Whoever’s there will back him up or move over.

Never said it was true, I said if reports are true and it is likely they are considering UGA is in his final 3

They’re loaded at running back. Swift and Holyfield start at most programs and they have two studs in their recruiting class. Only trump card other teams have is if Chaney tries to make Fromm a Heisman winner and gets a passing tunnel vision. Pittman seems to have had a calming effect on that with that one season at Tennessee, their time at Arkansas and now, tho.

Calling his dad a douche is a bit over the top.. Try not to be so hurt by all this..

It is a doucher move. I am not hurt by any of it but it is what it is. I may raise a future hall of fame qb and he may play for Alabama but I can guarantee I won't encourage him to play there. Try not to be offended by everything

You act like Kevin Mays owes UT something. He gave his four years for our football team and UT helped him get a degree. We traded services. No where in the recruiting papers does it say that if you have a son one day who is a major college football prospect he must sign with your school. Maybe we should put that in the fine print.
