TN Commit David Oku

"Y'all" have no clue about anything that goes on outside of your own little world, do you? Are you really knocking SU's production of NFL players? McNabb, Marvin Harrison, Keith Bulluck, and Dwight Freeney are all among the elite at their respective positions in the last 10 years. Things have fallen apart in the last 4 years for SU due to a bad coaching hire, but you all aren't exactly doing so great yourself, so I'm sure you understand. We'll be back.

Syracuse is historically a strong program, and I would expect fans of a tradition rich school like Tennessee to realize that. You disappoint me, sounding like a bunch of Johnny Come Lately Virginia Tech fans or something. So what is it....when Syracuse sucks, they are a bottom feeding school that no good recruit should go to? But when Tennessee sucks, you still get to think of yourselves as the most elite program in the world, that no recruit could ever possibly pass up? Get over yourselves, you aren't that special.

I was waiting for one of you guys to come out of the closet. Yep, that was me.I lived in Utica, and that's my take from the people I met.

If you don't like it,I don't care.:good!:

Meanwhile, Syracuse football attendence was barely short of capacity on average, in 1993. So maybe you were just hanging out with douchebags.

Wrong board.

The only time they have won anything of any significance was with Donovan McNabb. Historically strong?? They had NO conference championships before 1996, next time get your facts straight before you come on here and bash us.

The Big East just started as a football conference in 1991. But of course, you wouldn't know that. You all only pay attention to what goes on in the southern states.

So of course, there was no league for Syracuse to win before that.

So yeah, they didn't beat out those '91, '92, and '94 Miami teams(that's in the south, I assume you are at least aware of them, right?), though they were awfully close to them a few times. The league has been around since '91, Syracuse won it in 96, 97, 98, and 04.

Up next is 22 total Bowl games since 1895, with your first bowl game coming in 1952. That is strong.

Historically speaking, Army, Princeton and Suwanee were relevant..... Present day, they all suck.

Syracuse sucks dude.... Just ask ANYONE outside your little bubble.

Now I love my Vols more than anyone but we have nothining to brag about lately. Foolmer has really made us a middle of the road SEC team and we have not right to bash Syracuse. Now hopefully Kiffin will bring us back to the top of the heap but right now we are not doing so well. I don't know how we can talk smack when we've been left out of a bowl two of the last four years.

Syracuse sucks RIGHT NOW.

Tennessee kinda does too right now, just for the record.

Syracuse was a top program in the 50's and 60's. Struggled in the 70's and early 80's. From 1987-2001 they had 15 straight winning seasons.

In the overall scheme of things, most who actually follow college football(everywhere, not just in 6 states), would put Syracuse as a top 25-30 program all time. As good as Tennessee and a consistent powerhouse? No. But certainly respectable with a lot of good tradition.

Saying they "suck" because they've had a few bad years, while looking at your program like they are still on top of the mountain(they aren't, just for the record) shows your blind homerism and nothing more. That would be like me just looking at UT's most recent season and saying Tennesee SUCKS! 5-7! Are you kidding me! What a doormat!

That's basically what you're all doing.

How did Oku's thread become a referendum on the relevance of Syracuse football?

They were once relevant, and they may be again at some point in the future, but they are not now. I wish the Orangemen the best of luck, but here are the simple facts:

1. Syracuse has had some good teams and good years in football in the past.

2. Tennessee is one of the top football programs in the history of the sport, and comparing Syracuse's bowl and conference records to the Vols is an exercise in futility. UT will win every category every time.

3. Syracuse exists in the minds of UT fans only as "that school we beat the first game of the national title year" (also note that this is one of those seasons you brag about winning your conference championship)

Judging by the way you typed your username, you're obviously 14. So why would you care about anything that happened in 1930? Cuse wasn't top notch in the leather helmet era, you got me there. Damnit.

1. I agree.

2. I also agree, but if our current stature devalue's us so much, so does yours.

3. Also note, that Tennessee benefitted greatly from the SEC refs calling several 15 yard "equipment violation" penalty's on SU(a call I have never seen before or since), not to mention the questionable PI call on an uncatchable pass on 4th down. That was a great football game and Syracuse went toe to toe with a team that won the championship, and Tenn. was VERY fortunate to get those calls on the road(and they WERE SEC refs), which usually doesn't happen.

Wow. I'm glad we struck a nerve with you to come on here and register just to argue with us. Too bad your not too bright, but hey we have had bigger idiots than you on here in the past few months. I love people who think internet pissing matches are somehow relevant.

2. It's not just if something is devalued, but to what extent. UT just came off of what is viewed by most as the worst season in its history at 5-7. UT is still one of only two teams in the NCAA to never lose more than 7 games in any season.

Syracuse has had recent records of 3-9, 2-10, 4-8, 1-10. They have lost 8 or more games in each of the last 4 seasons and 10 times since 1970.

If you are looking for someone to validate you and say, "Syracuse is in the upper half of college football teams all time", I'll happily admit that.

If you want to pass Syracuse off as a powerhouse program that routinely puts players in the NFL over their history like UT, you'll run into resistance from any fan wearing UT's shade of orange.

Ahh, whining about the refs in a game ten years ago. You're one of those people.
