TN Commit David Oku

If Oku says he doesnt want the "spread offense" how does he know what the new coach will install as a offense? Does he know something that we don't? Cause if we do run the spread...go ahead and count Tajh Boyd out as well. He said that is the number one thing he doesn't want.

Well he is gone...I hope Stokes is a man of his word...maybe when we get a coach named we can save face...

Could MH or someone on staff be keeping these kids in the loop? Sounds like he knows something. Maybe there not saying this is who we are looking at but, these are the offense's for the guys we are thinking about.

Nice job UT!

Should have kept Fulmer and made him make staff changes.
Let Clawson have HIS recruits to run his system.
Like I said before...."be careful what you wish for." The next few years are going to be LEAN years on the hill!

He must be reading the stuff on govolsxtra. They are a complete joke and do not know what is going on. They said that Kelly was the leading person so ESPN ran with it. If they knew anything all signs are pointing to Kiffin. Honestly I think it will be Kiffin and he may be back. Who wouldnt want to play in a pro offense. We will not run the spread at UT. The spread will be obsolete in college football in a few years anyways.

I can promise you that the new coach will not do a better job than Fulmer. No one out there is better (that will come to UT). New coach will be fired within 4-5 yrs. The following one may be great. Next one will fail. Get ready!

What have you ever been right about that would cause anyone to take a word you say seriously?

It seems everyone knows better than govolsxtra. Dave Hooker and John Adams are complete jokes. The radio show is horrible. Dave Hooker thinks he knows it all and is nothing short of annoying. It thing Griffith actually broke this one though. He doesnt even have his own show. He had not proof that it was Kelly. No one knows anything but somehow the kns does. I dont even read their garbage anymore

The people hating on these kids for changing their mind are a bunch of idiots. Why wouldn't they talk to another school? They have no idea where the future of our program is going, especially for a running back who might be coming into a spread offense. Or a versatile option QB coming into the same thing. They are also looking at this as a career most likely. If they have the talent, they want to play in the NFL someday. They don't want to have their stock drop because they're in a position at a transition team.

It's like dropping a hemi in a Geo. The thing should fly on paper, but will probably blow the car right off the frame.

All you guys that are freaking out, you do realize that programs always lose recruits when coaching changes are made right?

Calm down.

I'm good now. Got the news when I was about to head out the door for lunch.

Decommits + empty stomach= We're all gonna die!

I do know the main reason OKU dropped OU and OSU was b/c the locals bashed him when he wasn't leaning to stay in-state. Let's keep it clean, wish him the best, and hope we get a coach in here soon who can salvage the decommits.

I doubt that whole interiornet thang will catch on either.

this is a few weeks old, but most likely still holds true.

David Oku of Carl Albert, also is leaning towards staying, but will look closely at the system the new coach will install.

“If they keep a similar style of offense and I like the new coach, then I will still go to Tennessee,” Oku said. “I don’t see any reason to change my mind when I like everything about the school and the city. But I don’t like the spread, though. That’s my only thing. If they don’t go with a guy that’s going to run the spread, then I will be happy. I just don’t like all the hurry-up style of offense.”

lean years on the Hill? what would you call this year? or 2005?

It could get much worse. Look at the other teams and who they have returning. Then look at UT and do the same. Not a pretty sight. I don't have much faith in BJ going to Gainsville and winning. Do you?

He's out in Oklahoma, hearing all the garbage about Leach to Tennessee.

You are correct, sir. He flat out said he doesnt want to play in a spread offense and that he thinks the next UT coach will run the spread.

When Kiffin is announced and he sees that UT will run a pro-style offense he will come back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Giles comes back too - that is if UT even wants him back.

The point is, don't fret about losing a commit until the new HC is announced. He will be able to bring in some of the other talent that is out there as well.

Kids will do what's best for them. There is no reason to start losing our cool over high school athletes who have never set foot on a college football field.

I wonder how much a chance the new coach will be given by these guys to get them to recommmit...I can't imagine they wouldn't at least consider it if we get Kiffin...

I like how you say "when" Kiffin is announced?

You gotta be freaking kidding me. We don't need to lose Oku and Giles. Why would you wait until now to start looking around? You say you are dedicated to somewhere and won't sway and then go and pull something like this. I'm sorry but this generation's high school athletes are hyped up premadonnas who don't know the meaning of giving your word or taking accountability for your actions.

This is the fruit of so many Vol fans' labors. Kids like Oku, Giles, Swearenger and others believed in Coach Fulmer. They believed that he would provide them with the best environment to grow and succeed as collegiate athletes and perhaps help them take their skills to the next level. Top tier recruits are not going to risk their entire careers on an unknown quantity.

You wanted change at the head coaching position, you got change at the head coaching position and now you have to deal with the consequences.
