TN Commit David Oku

You gotta be freaking kidding me. We don't need to lose Oku and Giles. Why would you wait until now to start looking around? You say you are dedicated to somewhere and won't sway and then go and pull something like this. I'm sorry but this generation's high school athletes are hyped up premadonnas who don't know the meaning of giving your word or taking accountability for your actions.

Probably been talking to schools since Fulmer was fired. Just didn't say anything publicly in case his inquiries to other schools were hit and miss.

Probably means that he has another school lined up, if the coach who comes to UT isn't something he wants.

We agreed months ago that this is a price we were willing to pay in order to replace Fulmer. Well, most of us anyways.

I agree that we did sign up for this when we fired Fulmer.(which I was for)

I just don't understand. His other schools were Clemson,Michigan,Nebraska and a few others.

I know Fulmer is a great guy but great coach? Not anymore atleast. We need guys to want to come to UT for UT.

So Oku isn't buying into the UT coaching search? What the hell does that mean?

Dropping us b/c he doesn't want to run the spread. Unless he knows something we don't, he is an idiot for doing it like this.

Hey Oku, you want coaching job security? UT shouldn't have to replace another coach for at least 5 years so that is BS. Go on and look at schools who's coaches will be fired or leave for greener pastures in the next 3 years.

You can recruit all the receivers and backs in the world but until they get their OL and QB play fixed it doesn't matter. I want a coach that can fix those problems before worrying about another guy running the ball 3 times a game.

Hope that hostess didn't give it up, thanks for trying.

This pisses me off so bad. Seriously, as far as coaching security, there is no surer thing than a brand-spanking newly hired coach. He says it isn't an issue cause he loves UT, and then he uses it backwards against us.

Oku says he has kept tabs on the search and has decided to officially open his recruitment back up.

"I've been good, just about to start looking at other schools," Oku said. "I don't think Tennessee will get the right coach for me. I'm going to send tape out to 15 different schools that don't run spread. I'm just not really buying into Tennessee's coaching search."

While Oku wouldn't say specifically which schools he would be looking at this time around, there is one important factor for his search going forward.

"I'm looking at (coaches') job security for my next school," Oku said. "I'm looking at schools all over, I've got two visits left."

The rumors this weekend was that Trooper Taylor was recruiting the crap out of Oku. I can imagine the conversations.

Trooper: "hey David (chest bump)!, What's up?"
"UT is going to be running the spread dog."

OKU: Really

Trooper: "yeah, thats the only reason they interviewed me the other day. They turned me down though cause I only had one year in the Big 12 and they are deadset on the spread."

OKU: That sucks

Trooper: "Yeah, for real. Now I got Chief on the phone saying Leach is a done deal. You wanna come play for the Cowboys?"

Gonna be hard to salvage but if it is Kiffen he will be back...I really thinks he wants to be part of a pro style offense and Kiffen will do just that...We will all see in the next 3 weeks!

This is great. Went to ESPN and headline is Vol commit to take other visits. I clicked on it expecting it to be more OKU news. NO, instead, more bad news:

Vol commit to take official visits

One of the top prospects in Big Ten country, wide receiver Je'Ron Stokes (Philadelphia/Northeast), committed to Tennessee in April and made his official visit there the weekend of Sept. 20. When Volunteer coach Phillip Fulmer resigned in early November, Stokes said he was still committed to Tennessee, but would not rule out the possibility of visiting other schools.

Stokes remains committed to the Vols, but has decided his official visit to Tennessee won't be the only one he takes.

"I'm going to take a few official visits," Stokes said. "I'll probably take two or three more official visits. But I'd rather not say who I'll visit at this point."

Penn State, Florida, UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Iowa and Texas Tech are among the many schools that have offered Stokes a scholarship.

Tajh Boyd and Askew, step on up.
