You probably literally believe that Shy Tuttle fell on a helmet 😂 Wake up people! Butch is in over his head! Has no control over this program, and is just proving to be a bad fit all around. Not to mention, a very mediocre to downright awful gameday coach.

Rumors may not be 100% true, but if you don't think there are problems going on behind the scenes at Tennessee then you're wrong. We've been dealing with this for 5 years now. Great athletes quitting or causing problems in the locker room. It's Butch guys, it always has been. Just point to Booger's article from his visit back in the summer. Had basically said Butch was running a circus, and it looks like he's right.

Coaches "insinuate" things to recruits. That's the game and both recruits and coaches know it.

That's not what I'm talking about. Your claim that he was "me first" is nothing but a convenient way of excusing Jones... that doesn't even excuse Jones. Jones made him the face of the program. Jones was the one who told the media openly that everyone noticed his presence when Hurd walked into a room. Jones allowed his behavior whatever it was in the locker room. Jones even gave him a free pass to skip practice last August for "health reasons".

Hurd had a part in it... but don't pretend Jones didn't create the situation that allowed it. He did. When he tried to rein Hurd back in... it broke.

Winning just like losing changes things. If Jones wins Saturday, doesn't choke vs a lesser opponent, and finishes with 9 wins... everyone forgives and forgets. He gets a raise and extension. The only question then is if he will forgive and forget or use his success to move on. I have always thought he wanted to coach in the NFL. I think he'd jump at the chance.

IMO, Jones mismanaged Hurd from the day he committed. He put Hurd's face on the future of the program along with all the pressure that goes along with it. Hurd for his part let it morph into a prima donna attitude. I think it all came to a head when Jones insinuated after running more under center in the bowl game that that was UT's future on O. Hurd may have already threatened to leave for a program that would showcase his ability to run downhill (something that doesn't happen if Jones doesn't give him special handling previous). When the season began than progressed and it became obvious that Dobbs and not Hurd was going to be the center of the O... Hurd soured. It got worse when Jones tried to regain control.

People hated Hurd because he's the one who they perceived as "disloyal" to UT. Many just had to find a rationale for continuing to deflect any criticism of Jones.

Don't know what might be the issue with TKjr but both he and Hurd have left Vol fans some good memories of great plays.

Fans hate Hurd because he quit on the team. He could have been one of the greats but let his ego get in the way

I personally feel that if both of these individuals has quit the team that it would be in a news article because kids can't keep a secret like that or why would they have to keep it a secret. I'm calling BS to this rumor/insider info.

It is Jones JOB to manage his players including any attitudes like that. And knowing you have someone like that... why would you let them expect something that you weren't going to fulfill?

And fans do not know everything that happened between the two of them. What we do know is that Jones did NOTHING to discourage Hurd's prima donna attitude... and did A LOT to encourage it.

Who allows players to skip August practice if they want to? Who puts a RB in a green jersey all August even though he isn't hurt because you "know he'll be ready come game time"? To say those are rookie personnel management mistakes on a football team is an insult to rookies.
